I don't know but fighting a 39 year old at least definitely deserves an asterisk. Thats really old. Imagine all these guys being in their primes and Joshua having to fight them at 39 and 40 years old. Think of how unfair that would be if the shoe was on the other foot.

Give Makabu his belt back, Jack was too old when he knocked him out. You can't tell me in this scenario you'd be fine with that, but then next guy who comes along and beats Jack you put an asterix next to that win because of his age. That don't sit.

 

I could be wrong but Zhang seems really beatable to me mainly because he is so old. But he's such a freakishly big puncher that he covers up for it. So I will agree with you about Zhang, but you also will need to agree that he is an extreme anomaly. He's an extreme minority example not a baseline example.

 

38 and 39 are very old. Are you actually trying to say its not? You're trotting out these extreme Bernard Hopkins examples now to make it seem like its not which is incredibly disingenuous. Any extreme examples you try to put out there can be matched with hundreds and hundreds of examples of the opposite

Ultimately, fighting guys your own age or younger is only worth **** if they've proven anything themselves... And they'd have had to fight the older and more proven guys to do that.

With some fighters it's any excuse to pick holes - with some fighters it's any excuse to give credit where none is due.

Now usyk on the other hand had already unified the division below and has since unified hw by beaten the 2 half decent fighters of the lot

Daniel Dubois is not an old man and I expect Aj to smash him. Not a great fighter either, but no fault of Ajs, the era sucks balls and you can only beat who is in front of you

Is it? Parker, who is in top 4 of the best HW of this era? And that AJ beats him when he was young, and unbeaten with 100% of his chin/durability/freshness, and not carry the injuries he carries now ?
Whyte, who was a top 10 contender, top 5 actually for quite some time? And AJ beat the best version of Whyte, young, undefeated, still with his chin, and not being cracked.
Should i even mention that old Povetkin that AJ beats, somehow 2 years later, being shot to pieces, still managed to KO out cold Whyte and shatter what has left of that chin? And Whyte at that time was top 5.

And yeah we all know AJ lost to Ruiz, when he was recklessly going for the KO, when KD Ruiz, and was countered and concussed.
But how about give credits where credits it's due, that AJ took the rematch straight away and 12-0 Ruiz.
Wallin was top 10 and Number 2 IBF.

AJ resume is actually great, cause this shows you that he fight all of the best fighters of the previous eras. You can make a case for this or that guy being old, if they were on a losing streak or AJ on purpose aged them out, which ain't the case.

He fought them when they were mandatory straight away. He didn't need to age them out, like some other HWs out there.

Klitschko - a dominant Champion, with 1 recent loss, to Fury, who was on all kind of s*****, ducked the rematch and failed a PED tests.\
AJ fought Povetkin straight away, and Povetkin was top 3 or top 5 at worst when AJ fought him. He was on a big winning streak, and he was one of the best of the previous era.
Pulev - become mandatory twice, as the first time was taken, when he ducked the AJ fight. Pulev was from previous era with 1 loss to Klitschko only.

AJ then tries and fought the new generation guys of his era like Parker, Ruiz, Whyte, tried to fight Miller when he was relevant, but he popped dirty. Tried to fight Fury and Wilder multiple time, but they never wanted this fight, until recently Wilder, but he lost to Parker and lost that opportunity.
Wallin is from this era, and Ngannou was the guy that everyone knows bested Fury.
Jermain Franklin was comeback fight after the loses to Usyk, and it's unknown quality, but his chin is proven already. And Franklin should have been unbeaten, as he clearly beats Whyte in my opinion.
Fought Usyk, and now AJ is going to fight Dubois, Zhang, and the rest of them. With either Dubois/Zhang in September.

So if anyone wants to criticize someone resume and why he isn't fighting this or that guy, AJ is clearly the wrong guy.

Yeah you are wrong. How is Zhang beatable mainly because is old ? Was Zhang some pace fighter? When did he have any stamina we can talk about ?
Zhang and his team own words are that he is the best his ever been. If you actually knew a thing about Zhang, you would have known about his draw against Jerry Forrest and he almost died in there out of exhaustion and had a kidney failure.
And Zhang and his team has said after the Hrgovic fight that he added a strength and conditioner trainer, and took his physical condition way seriously then before, and he is different fighter now. Before he wasn't given a **** about it back in the day. And by his own word he is the best his ever been physically.

Obviously after 33-34, and then once again after 36-37 you start declining really fast, and that decline will stop/slow somewhere eventually, before it's start leaking fast again.
Zhang hand speed is still there, and his stamina is nowhere to be found, but it's always was like that.
Age is one of the factors for the decline, but also how many fights you had, hard ones as well, and most importantly the amount of miles based on your hard training is also super important, amount of fights, and number 1 is the genetics.
Zhang maybe 41, but he started very late and doesn't have much miles on the clock.
And Zhang is doing great, cause he is so big, strong and powerful, and that is literally for life. Your strength/power can be carried till your 50s.

So the guy example with Parker wins is perfectly valid.
