Ive never understood why boxing has a season? its not like its dictated by the weather like other sports and fighters fight at different stages of the year so there is no need for an annual break. Also why do most of the bigger fights seem to be around may and towards the end of the year? Surely fights during the summer when the football season is off would make more sense as more people are likely to go along.
Honeyghan and Bruno in the Marbella Bullring was rained off too, for 24 hours. It always made sense to me to finish boxing in May, so we could have our holidays and be refreshed come September.
I work(ed) in sales. Let me tell you it is f-ing impossible to get people to make decisions in August. Usually because no f-er is there!!!
I always thought it was something to do with the landed gentry (the traditional backers of the sport) being on holiday in August/early September.
