Why does BOXREC lists Mayweather as #1 lb4lb instead of Pacquiao?

To give him enough confidence to fight Pacquiao.

Same thing Hopkins is trying(so golden boy can make millions of dollars)

P4P is a useless concept invented by the american media to sell fights. There is no criteria for P4P and everybody has a different list. Everyone knows Boxrec rankings are a joke.

 

For one I feel it's ok to have Mayweather at the number 1 spot and Manny at 2 or vice versa...but one thing I fail to comprehend is that they have Mayweather almost 400 points ahead of Manny...wtf is that all about? Boxrec ratings shouldn't be taking seriously, does anyone know the criteria for achieving those points???

Right now it should be Martinez.
If Mayweather is active he should be #2. He is better in terms of talent and recent resume than Pacquiao. Who should be #3. If Mayweather is not active he should not be ranked. Pacquiao would e #2 than. Mayweather > Pacquiao in all regards. That is not opinion, it is fact.

 

Same reason Pacquiao is listed as #1 light middleweight and nowhere in the welterweight rankings. Because it's a computer that only follows formulas to the letter and doesn't think.

No rating system is perfect, but what I do like about boxrec. is that there rating system factors in the recent record and performance of your previous opponents, and since Pacquiao's recent opposition has consisted of fighters coming off of losses........its the reason right there why Mayweather is rated above him.

 

I guess while Floyd being inactive his last wins over Mosley and Marquez counts more since both Mosley and Marquez were higher in the P4P ranks than Cotto, Clottley and Margarito - who would knew Mosley was seemingly shot and inactive while Marquez was outweighed ... no matter what we think of Floyd, he chooses his opponents perfectly.

Floyd may wait while PAC become inactive and shot but still holding #1p4p spots, then if he beats Floyd he will have the best boxrec rating for the next two decades.

 

Its a computerised system, anyway Pac's only been in with Margarito and Clottey this year and we know Mosley white washed and ko'd Margarito so Pac is actually fighting a level below (this year)

 

points based system where it was always adjusted, just noticed how high bhop is? usd to be he was always number since the guy who handles the software for th points based criteria is a big bhop fan and an american if i remember correctly when i used to post there 4 years ago.
