Why does Broner try to fight like Mayweather?

You could see the way he was trying to fight vs Porter, he's trying to copy Mayweather being too defensive, but it looks like that's not Broner's natural game, he needs to attack more. The Mayweather's have basically killed him off at the Mayweather Boxing club because Floyd was helping him, but Floyd's style only suits Floyd. Shame to see Broner go down the drain like this.

Why does Broner try to fight like Mayweather?

Because it worked for him until 2 of his last 4 fights

Because he thought he was the heir apparent and being a guy with half the substance between the ropes against mediocre opposition, you can get away with it, having double the gutter-trash ''persona'' gets him more notoriety, thus when he steps up and struggles, (commendable as stepping up is, it's kinda the whole point of proving you belong on the same level as your hype) he gets double the hatred because it's been proven his ceiling is not what we were told it was.

He could still be as good as Money Mayweather, dare I say better possibly?

    He has great great potential

Give the man time. He can still be a H.o.F

He can still have a good career of course, he is a solid B-level fighter and still young but he has massive issues and an attitude problem. Somebody once said he will learn the hard way everytime because he doesn't learn from mistakes that could help him grow as a person and a fighter, he had Mayweather himself teaching him for this fight and looked utterly dominated, one knockdown doesn't change what happened.

Berto tried too. People see something that works and they want to use it. The problem is Broner has not mastered the style. And he has some natural tendencies, which prevent him doing so. Floyd uses his legs a lot, he understands angles, positioning, and timing. He uses his defense to create offensive opportunities. Broner is really an offensive minded fighter trying to be defensive and calculating. He is trying to learn Floyd's very difficult style on the job. If he let his hands go more, he might have beaten Porter. It took Berto one fight and a new trainer to snap out of trying to copy Floyd.
