Froch beated Magee in 11th, Bute beated a better version of the Irish in tenth.Froch beated Johnson by MD.Probably Bute will UD him. That will make 2-0 for Bute regarding common opponents.
Hard to tell who is better from up to now opposition.Pascal lost two fight,.to Froch, and Hopkins, Bute lost none.Pascal won clearely with Dawson but Bute won the last six fights by KO and has over 80% percentage at this. If you ask me, Pascal fought clearely higher opposition but in four fights he won in one single big fight and I`m sure Bute would have done better.
You base your prediction on "ts easy to look good over b level competition and thats all bute's fought so far." ? It doesn't matter who he fought as long as the skills are there. I see them, and I think he can beat Froch, because not only the skills are there but also the style's are in Bute's favor. Remember Froch has lost to an excelent counter-puncher that was possible not at his best (Kessler). Bute is also a boxer-puncher and a counter-puncher like Kessler. Do you really think that Pascal with all those muscles is faster than Bute. Pascal only seems faster because he jumps in recless. Of balance so many times. Pascal is a great fighter but I'll put him on class below Bute, Froch and Ward. He did tho beat 1 guy who normally in my opinion couldn't have (Dawson) but he was getting bulied in the later rounds when the fight was stopped.
Dear me:nut I like the simplistic nature of your logic. "Bute beated a better version of the Irish in tenth" how was he a better version? Don't get me wrong I am not saying froch win over magee was anything better than what Bute did cos i just feel analysing potential match ups in this way is very basic and therefore flawed. Johnson is shot, froch said he could feel he was tiring early in the fight and could have taken it to him but with the s6 final in mind he was advised by his corner to be safe..
I respect your opinion and like I said previously I wouldn't be surprised if bute beat froch, ward etc. However, a lot of what you are stating is "if's" "buts" and "maybe" Not helped by the fact that is Bute's resume to date and him potentially heading into the toughest fight of his career against a 42 year old passed his prime fighter. Bute is nothing like kessler to me and i happen to think he (bute) doesn't like pressure and the potential to not be given the space to work on the back foot. Therefore leads me to believe his style might very well be made for Froch.
Agreed but it is a shame cos he is actually a very good fighter imo.. He should have been tested more to gain respect and then there wouldn't be so much hype surrounding his potential.
In a stylistic comparison, it easy to see why people would favor someone over Froch. He hes little defence and at times looks as though he has a lot left in the tank but opts to not go for it. What people don't see are the intangibles, which Froch takes to a whole new level. I've always ranked speed/technique as the 2 most important attributes in a fighters arsenal but without the heart/chin/determination to underpin them, a fighter can only go so far. Look at Dirrell as a clear example. The guy oozes speed and has very good technique but I personally can't help get the impression that he lacks heart. You could go as far as saying that against Abraham, he dominated the whole fight except for 2 punches he took, 1 putting him flat on his arse (which was a clean KD regardless of what the ref ruled it), the other KO'ing him and giving him "neurological problems." For me, Froch vs Bute as a stylistic analysis would be 60/40 in favor of Bute. In terms of a more contextual analysis based on resume and performances, I say it's 60/40 Froch.
Nobody likes pressure, but Bute learned how to handle it well(see Andrade II). Pressure is good for him, it creates chances. Froch needs space to unlish his best punches, why the hell do you think Froch will try to close up the space. For the fac Froch will try to be at a bigger distance that Bute will, he'll impose that jab of his and try to follow with a big punch after, he'll come rushing in but he'll go back up to be able to counter. Tell me a fight that Froch has fought an infight? Froch needs the space more than Bute who has shorter hands, has a great uppercut and more compact combinations.
What everyone agree to, is Bute need to fight the best of the division before we can answer all the questions. But, your point is Kessler, Froch, etc. will beat him because they all fought better opposition. And in the same time you say Dirrell will beat him on style and abilities... Double standards here, either you accept that Bute might have style/abilities to beat the best out there, or we dont know and so we have to give an edge on Froch and Kessler. But in this later case, Bute beat Dirrell and Ward should have never win against Kessler...
To those who mentioned it -- I think the Magee fights are irrelevant at this time. If you're looking to make an offense based comparison between Froch & Bute, this is it. Johnson is a well rounded fighter and both Froch & Bute are favored to win, showcasing their arsenal against a tough customer, etc etc. Froch vs Bute would also be extremely fan friendly, prolly FOTY material..... as opposed to Froch vs Ward which might look like a street fight at times (one guy's leaning on the other!). Pretty much agree with the OP, good stuff. And hmm if Froch decides to box Bute off using the long jab... sometimes when he jabs and sets the right hook (e.g. swing) up, he leaves his chin out there. I wonder if Bute would dare get on the inside and risk trading uppercuts by going for Carl's chin.
All right, but you said Froch won in better fashion and that can`t be compared clearely excepting common opponents. Magee himself and his staff affirmed he was in his best shape of his life before Bute fight.Let`s rememer sustainig this he had 10-11 victories in a row before that fight and THAT CONCLUDED TO A CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT.I think the arguments are enough.Froch had a much minor advantage before the stoppage than Bute, the first finishing in 11th the second in 10th. Case closed. Resting or not, if Bute wins UD over Johnson is a better win .Resting in the last rounds is nonsense since was major fight.Did he know the score?
Bute is very Slick, a really great mover & possesses true power, accomplished amatuer also....but in all honesty.....Dirrell takes him apart, Ward breaks him down, Froch takes him to war he would have to engage froch at some point....Kesseler would struggle to find Bute
