Kessler is one of his best wins.

His "win" over Hopkins was hardly impressive.

Nor his win over a shot Jones.

you cant srgue with guys who have studied the sport for years, written about it watched it, seen so many different boxers over decades and built their opinions that calzaghe is one of the very best.

44 year old hopkins wiped the floor with a guy in pavlik who most thought was the next big thing lol
Hopkins dominated and destroyed him, he could not do the same with calzaghe he knew a boxing match was somethign he couldnt win against joe and so he resorted to holding hugging and dancing with joe.
And you ask many fans right now if they still have hopkins in their top 4 or 5 fighters right now and they would say yes.
He is still a huge name, still competitive, still having big fights and you can keep saying 44 years old all you like the fact is he is in better shape physically now than he was years ago, he looks sensational for a 44 year old boxer.
And dont forget joe is no spring chicken at 37

Kessler is world class because of how good he is, not because I said so.

I do not live to impress you with anything.

Kessler has beaten very good fighters such as Mundine and Andrade and had a good close fight with Calzaghe.

You are entitled to your opinion but it's obvious we disagree about where Mikkel Kessler stands in the boxing world.

I appreciate all of the points you are making, but the bottom line is that Hopkins was still 44.

And if your are being honest, how can you escape the fact the Calzaghe was MIA when he was a young man...the truth is he did not fight consistently tough fighters his whole career.

Again, at the top of Calzaghe's resume is his win over 44 year-old Hopkins.

    That is just not impressive.

The U.S. is saturated with sports.

Boxing is behind American football, basketball and baseball.

Boxing will never die in the U.S. no matter how popular MMA becomes.

hopefully not but their not exactly showing that much passion for it. in the uk we have football(soccer), rugby, cricket yet thousands of fans would go over to watch fights, to another country spending hundreds..

    Calzaghe is old himself lol
if calzaghe was 25 fighting a 44 year old man you may have a point, but he is 37 and is not in his prime which makes his win over bhop very impressive.
Bhop would still beat most around and I include Dawson in that.
Kessler I would say was joes best performance along with his Bhop win and his demolition of lacy
I blame frank warren for not giving fights to joe he was wanting years ago.
Warren was a crap promoter for calzaghe and always promised him a big fight after his next, then calzaghe would be frustrated because he didnt get that big fight and only now in his later years has he got the names he desired for so long.
You cant knock joe for warrens caution, and joe at the time didnt have the money he has now to self promote and take charge of his own destiny.
Joe has been showing his frustration for ages and it was no surpriese that he split with warren now that he has the money to go alone.
He now is getting the fights he should have had years ago and warren runied those chances by putting him in with people not fit to lace his gloves.
And no doubt joe himself will regret the fact it didnt happen sooner for him, but his record is superb a champion at two weights, a champion at super middle for over a decade and still he is hungry and contemplating more fights, he is back training already and I woudlnt be surprised if he shuts a few mouths and puts some young upstarts int heir place like dawson and then fight hopkins again to finish his career.
I agree with part of what you say calzaghe hasnt always faced top opposition, but the fact is over in the us the american fighters get far more opportunity at the big fights even to the point that they fight each other over and over having 1,2 even three fights against the same oposition etc
Joe should have had the opportunity to be amongst that and we would all have seen some sensational fights.
Warren hasnt just robbed joe, he has robbed the boxing world

Kessler will likely unify the SMW division.
Bernard is 43 and he just put on his best performance ever. He isn't old, Joe's pace just made him look old for one fight.
Eubank wasn't a bum even if Joe beat him at the end of his career. Joe won decisively but Eubank was a tough fight. He threw some bombs and that was Joe's first fight against world-class type of fighter.
Joe would have given Roy lots of problems no matter what age Roy was.
I think you just don't like Joe because if you really wanna discuss records I could pick on Roy's records just as easily if you are honest. But I know what my eyes tell me and they have both been the type of special fighters you will barely ever see ever.

Yeah Joe is already in the gym so it tell me he will fight (and win) again. He usually doesn't train until a fight is set so he must be heeling the desire to do some more.

Hopkins was 43 and P4P top 5, and he showed it 6 months later when destroying Pavlik, the MW king and P4P top 10. Not a bad win.

Who are these tough fighters calzaghe didnt constantly fight throughout his career?
