    Malinga, not Thalinga
    Griffin, not Griffen

But your points stand. The Malinga win is especially underrated on his resume.

I think he faced two southpaws very early.

I'm good mate, enjoyed the boxing last weekend. Yeah if there's anything else, I'll give you a shout, thanks! Don't forget to check out the Body Snatcher when you've got a bit of time on your hands, and let me know what you think. Enjoy the rest of your weekend mate.

I think both resumes are underrated.

Jones beat loads of legit guys, some great (toney, bhop) and becoming HW champ is unreal.

Calzaghes victories against Eubank, Kessler and Bhop who was beating p4p fighters before and after fighting Calzaghe (regardless of age) are underrated. At 42/3 Hopkins was probably 3-4 year past his prime. Joe at 36(?) was about the same.

Both are ATGs but Jones' resume and ability are obviously superior.

Calzaghe only faced 2 people with the potential to beat him after taking the title in the fight with Chris(cracking fight in Sheffield and I was there)Kess and Hopkins.Hopkins I thought beat him,Kessler in my opinion was closer than the scores and if he would have been given a return would have beat Joe.
The guys Jones faced were a higher level than Joe,he fought Hopkins(in the 90s)Toney,Hill in fact the only fight he ducked was Dariuz. Joe was a good fighter no question but Roy Jones was far better. An old washed up Roy took Joe 12 rounds and had him on his arse.He would have torn him apart in his prime.

Good post. I agree, apart from that Roy didn't duck Dariusz. He wanted the fight, but he didn't want to go to Germany. Who could blame him in 2001? The onus was on DM to go to Roy. But he turned down two opportunities to go to America, and the fight became impossible to make.

You don't seem to understand the kind of money being drawn to these events. Casino's comp tickets to high rollers they know will drop ten of thousands of dollars gambling. The rest of the tickets are usually sold for much more than you "Patrick Thistle" games.

wales is tiny, and is part of the UK. Wales is so small it is considered a province of england. Calzaghe almost never fought outside the UK/english 'state'.

RJJ fought in many states of the USA.

Wales is not considered a province of England. Its a principality and a quasi-independent country. It forms part of the United Kingdom as one of four countries united - the countries of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. And some American States are of a similar size to Wales.

Roy Jones' defeats should hardly be held against him.. Nearly all of them came when he was 35+ years old and the only one that didn't was the result of a bull**** disqualification. He made short work of the beneficiary of that verdict in the rematch. I love Joe Calzaghe and felt that his carer was absolutely brilliant. But he can't be rated above Jones in my book. Jones won titles in four weight classes, plus had a rather lengthy run at light heavyweight.. He has wins over a peak Toney, a slightly green but competitive Hopkins, and an aged yet still serviceable Virgil Hill. He even captured a strap at heavy when he was passed it. My only criticisms of Jones was that he hung around way too long, and never satisfied those who wanted to see him fight Dariusz whats his face.. Aside from that he is definitely a true all time great.

RJJ's resume shits all over slappy joes. Calzaghe is the most overated fighter ever, he doesn't have one prime A level fighter on his resume.

No, not a quasi-country, quasi-independent. Wales has been a country as long as England has, maybe longer. It may have been conquered by Edward I but it has never lost its sense of individual nationality and its borders have been maintained - in that law on the English side of the border was always different to law on the Welsh side. Now they have their own government in Cardiff, they have devolved powers which allows them some manner of self-governance on internal affiars. They are a principalitily only because their Head of State is the Prince of Wales.

Hi mate, good post. I don't think the U.K. is 1/5th the size of the U.K. is it? America is huge. The state of Texas is as big as Spain I believe?

You've made a good point regarding Hatton vs Mayweather, but the point is, that fight was a big fight, but it was staged in the U.S. There's no way that fight was ever going to be held in the U.K.

That's the point I was trying to make. They could have held it in a U.K. stadium with over 50,000 fans, but they had the fight in Vegas in front of around 17,000 fans.

    Regards, Loudon.
