    ..recent article on the scene.

Calzaghe comes into training camps at 190 pounds, Bute comes into camps at 184 pounds...Kessler somewhere around there too, and yet, they all fight at 168. Dawson comes into camp at 170 and has to work his way UP to 175!

Now, I agree that under normal circumstances the big SMWs should all fight at LHW, they shouldn't cut so much and come in as heavy as they do on the night...but that is their own (health) problem.

But if Dawson really wants to be the best in the world, p4p and all that...why does he fight at LHW when he could easily fight at SMW?

Is it not because at LHW, he has to compete against have-been NAMES instead, which makes it much easier to make it to the top?;)

Would beating Glen Johnson (39), Tarver (39) - the man he had been chasing assiduously for months last year...Woods (35), Roy Jones Junior (39), or Bernard Hopkins (43) really make Dawson one of the best fighters in the world? Not in my book, it wouldn't! :verysad :-( :verysad :-( :verysad

If beating Mundine (32), Bute (28), Kessler (29) and Calzaghe (36) were easier than beating these have-been NAMES, Dawson would be campaigning at SMW, rather than LHW...But it seems, he doesn't think it would be easier. Oh...yeah...also these guys are not American, and not overrated in America, which would make it much harder for him to be recognised in the USA, if he beat them...:think

I guess it makes sense after all.:deal

But guess what, Chad...there are other young, hungry contenders out there who want big fights too...some even want your belt...

You might want to forget about them and to fight the winner of Woods v. Tarver after Johnson straight away...but you cannot have it all your way all the time...you'll have to face the winner of Diaconu v. Henry first!:yep

Boxing should be about fighting the best not the money. There are better fighters at SMW than in light heavy weight. Dawson went where there are easier money to be earned.

Just watched a program with Paris Hilton yesterday - no wonder the americans thinks that exposure equal quality. It's Chris Crocker all over again... **** I hate ignorent people.

Think I am just gonna watch smaller divisions from now - they have balls.

He was fighting at MW just a few years ago. Man, if Dawson never gets past the 175 even during training, that tells you a lot.

Anyone think his lack of natural size might come back to haunt him or is he just too good for all the old folks at LHW right now?

Would be nice if Dawson moved down though, if Taylor and Pavlik finally moved up, it would be one hell of a division.

**** SMW. Chad Dawson is a highly talented, American fighter. There's no need for him to waste his time in a division that no one in the states cares about. The top of the division is filled with a bunch of foreign fighters that aren't a draw in the states.

True, my post above would change this.

Dawson, Taylor, Lacy and Pavlik should be satisfactory for most americans.

Because LHW is a garbage retirement home whereas SMW is a division with young hungry lions. Simple as that. Shame he can't run forever, because a few of these guys will outgrow the weight

So you think Dawson is running from the SMW division?

It looks a bit suspect when he weighs 170 and builds up to compete in one of the worst divisions in boxing right now. Not neccessarily running, but the path of least resistance

He thinks Calzaghe is God and Kessler is Jesus Christ. He thinks the SMW is the greatest collection of talent ever assembled and that the likes of Pavlik, Taylor, Hopkins, Dawson and anyone else around this weight are scared shitless of all the Euro fighters.

That about sum it up there TFFP? :good

With attitudes like these, don't be surprised if European fighters are prepared to do anything to get a shot at the overrated American NAMES; also, don't be surprised when US fighters will be called overrated by everyone...you yourself justify these attitudes.

I may agree with you that if you are a overrated overhyped American fighter, you should only fight other overrated overhyped American fighters, but then, you cannot call yourself the best - you aren't.
