Why does coWARD still has fans?

Beating a 90 year old Hopkins and a guy who got done by Ward's son Froch is no massively admirable feat. Puts him above the likes of Golovkin but he cannot **** with Ward based on that alone.

Ward is the only fighter in recent history that suffered a cut during sparring with head gear on! Remember that? They had to postpone the Super Six final? How does a guy suffer a huge gash with head gear on??? Only in Andre Ward's world these idiotic things happen.

 

I like Kovalev... I like him a lot really. But let's not kid ourselves and compare him to someone like Andre Ward, proven to be one of the best fighters of the last 20 years. Kovalev has the ability to deliver the goods, but fighting old Hopkins and Pascal twice is not doing him favors.

 

To be the best you have to beat the best. And more than once but over and over again. Neither Ward or Kovalev have done it.

If he beats Kovalev he's undoubtedly the best fighter in the world.

 

If he beats Kovalev then the only thing he could be criticised for would be wasting so much time having been inactive and fighting the Rodriguez's and Smith's of the world when he could have been forging an ATG career.
