I understand the intention with this claim is to show respect for the athlets in question, but it aint true. Boxers today are very well aware that they risk longterm healthproblems. Thus they can be scared for getting into fights were they risk to take punishments.

Eubank, for one, was happy a fight with one of the American topdogs, James Toney if I recall correctly, never took place. Precisely because it would have been a war where both men risked their health.

Calzaghe pulled out of the game when he had settled the score with the two American legends, going on record he wanted to stop while his health still was okay. Could otherwise had made some good money fighting hypejob and big puncher Pavlik.

Floyd seems very aware of the power and speed of his rival Pac, which has been expressed in many interviews. Floyd is incredbile wealthy and has made the right decision to enjoy his money in life without taking any pointless risks, which I think is the sane option. Yet people keep to debate over it.

Haye afraid Vitali will take his Stetson again. Not to mention his health and possibly life.

I don't think boxers are scared of other boxers personally, just like you said, of the consequences.

The "who ducked who"-debate must be dead for all sane posters. We all know Floyd is reluctant, and even if that were not the case Arum would get in the way for the fight.

The examples you post are lame. Calzaghe left because of age and frankly has nothing else to prove. He didn't want to be Roy Jones, James, Mosley or any of the other athletes who are fighting on name alone.

I don't think anyone was scared of Tyson but once they got in the ring and felt the hurt, they wanted out. It's a natural, physiological response. Most of us know when we're beat (Cotto's body knew serious damage was going to happen if it continued to take damage from bricks). I don't believe anybody is a coward in boxing, only couch boxing fans who suck their idol's nuts.

I dont think its a fighter getting scared of another fighter or even scared about their health. I think if they are scared at all its about the outcome of the fight and taking a loss. Im not talking about Mayweather and losing his 0, but even fighters getting a title shot might be worried about losing his chance to take it or a veteran fighter might be worried if he loses his next fight then there go his chances of getting another good fight. Even then though its not really a fear, more of a worry. Except for some of the guys that Tyson fought. That was just straight up fear.

Not sure what makes boxers not human regarding fear. What, because you spar you are suddenly immune to the most basic human emotion.

Boxers can be fearful as any other human being. You have have to be something wrong with your biologically in order to be never be afraid you dumb asses.

I dont imply they are cowards. I imply they are realistic about what might happen if they take some fights.

Actually, this bit really sums it up nicely. Fear or not they still get in the ring. Well, unless they don't. Never mind.

I don't see why one boxer would be scared of another, most men ain't scared of another man, let alone someone who trains in combat. I'm sure they're supremely confident.

Michael Spinks had complete and total fear in his eyes the second he stepped through those ropes.
My pops called it KO1 before the bell rang because he knew Spinks was there to buckle. :-(

Fighters, even other champions were afraid of Mike Tyson.

As for Roid Mayflower Jr.....he aint scared of Pac or losing his health. He's afraid only of losing his O. He afraid that in 20yrs ppl will be saying Manny Pacqioua is the greatest fighter of this generation and he wants that title to himself. :-(
