at some point, you can only learn so much and either you can fight or you cant...athletic ability will carry you so far....he comes across as a poor mans michael grant.....rule of thumb, if you came out of the olympics with a medal, and the next olympics are only months away, and you are still fighting guys you should have fought in your first year, something is big time wrong....
i would like nothing more than to think he is gonna crush his way up the ladder to the top, but it aint happening....

have you ever watched boxing before 2008? you come across as ignorant.

tyson turned pro is march 1985
tyson fought his 19th fight in march of 1986

in his 20th fight (14 months after turned pro) fought James Tillis, a guy that went 15 rounds for the WBA heavyweight title a few years earlier in a losing effort

Wilders 21st fight is against a guy who has lost 10 out of his last 13
and 5 foot 9 and 40 years old

so yeah, tyson fought his share of bums, but he got them all out of the way in a years time...tyson..a guy who didnt even make the olympics

If WBC demands Breazeale next, I think Wilder's next move will be the injury card. He did face his mandatory after all. So it's time for a broken hand!

No, it's time for Wilder to fight Breazeale who is owned by Haymon. Joshua knocked Breazeale out already, Breazeale will take a dive if ordered, but since he can't fight, he won't need to take a dive..................it's a Haymon vs. Haymon fighter instead of the highest ranked.............

Has he not already made enough for that? For the HW champ his paychecks are abysmal but for normal people he's rich. I'd say if he needed more money for his daughters condition he'd lay off the expensive suits and watches.

Haymon has a big part as to why Wilder hasn't stepped up. Fact is Haymon fighters in general fight garbage opposition, Haymon is risk adverse and unwilling to risk his fighters losing to anyone half decent. It's why Quillin vacated, it's why Stevenson ran to showtime to avoid Kovalev and why they keep paying Stevenson's mandatory step aside money so nobody decent can become Stevenson's mandatory.

Wilder also is such a small draw that he can't afford to pay his opponents more and so he can't unify without the other champion bank rolling it or fight anyone decent without them bringing the money.

Why did he almost fight Ortiz? One Ortiz's financial demands were low and two he's a Haymon fighter. Haymon is willing to risk Wilder losing because if he does he still has the belt and Ortiz/Joshua would still be a pretty big fight if Haymon decides to risk him against Joshua.

Hopefully we finally get to see Wilder step up against Ortiz.

Haymon was probably terrified watching Wilder vs most of his cherry picks. Hardly inspires much confidence does it.
