Because some think that he is a self-serving back stabbing egotistical *****. While others see him as an old school pugilist type who only has the best wishes for boxing. It just depends on what side of the spectrum you're on I guess.
He gets annoying a lot of times and exaggerates every story, but I would really miss him if he left FNF.
I wasn't aware of many that did hate him. He's pretty insightful and passionate about boxing - I don't see this as being a bad thing.
I think another reason he's hated is one of his eyes is always at halfmass and he sounds like an autistic baby giraffe with a NY accent. But I like him, I just wish he would kill Joe Tessitore, that's my biggest beef with him.
Yeah, as silly as those metaphors sound, I enjoy listening to him come up with metaphors relating to just about everything. He really pisses me off sometimes, but that doesn't matter. The most important thing is that he's not a boring commentator and he's knowledgable. He also has a ton of passion for the sport and it comes out in a big way on air.
He's going to be the grand marshall at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in my area! He's always been cool in my book...I don't always agree with him, but he a great commentator. I remember when he apologized to everyone for the lackluster performance Julio Cesar Garcia put on (a terrible effort I must say).
hate is too strong a word. atlas can be annoying, but i find him an entertaining guy. the exagerrated stories, the recycled fight plans, the funny way he commentates etc.... he's quite amusing.
Because he is an overacting punk of a trainer. Watch the Moorer - Botha fight and you will see what I mean.
Teddy might overact or be creative in getting his point across. It doesn't matter because his presence in boxing has done more good than bad.
He told Moorer in the corner during the Botha fight that he (Teddy) just got a call from his (Moorer) son and that he (Moorer's son) was so ashamed of his daddy's performance. After the fight, it was brought up to Moorer during the interview and Moorer said he didn't buy it because his son was too young to use a phone or something like that. Even a low IQ idiot wouldn't buy it. But for Teddy, it was a effective way to get his point across :nut
