I respect Wlad and see him as the no.1 heavyweight at the moment but some of his fans on here are idiots, saying that a lot of Haye fans hate Wlad with a passion but will use him as one of Haye's greatest wins if he beats Wlad. Wlad gets my respect though.

I like Wlad but I think his mechanical style doesn't endear to many boxing fans. He sticks to the plan so well (read: jab, jab, jab) and he is so effective at it but the fans clamor for more. They want the HW champions to be swinging all the time (ala Mike Tyson) to make the fight more exciting.

I totally agree. The thing is IMO Chambers has NO defense at all. If he stands if front of sam with that lean back peek a boo style..Peter will win..if chambers starts to move..sam might be in trouble. I think he will come back strong...he has pride... I just wish sam would chamge up his team...they suck IMO

Why should Wlad go toe to toe with lesser skilled fighters to impress you? He has the skills to kick your ass from long distance without allowing you within punching range.

I don't like Wlad's style because he doesn't take any chances, he works his jab and concentrates on scoring points, even when he knows he can finish a fight. But a lot of fighters are good champions and boring.. thats just the way it is.

The Peter, Byrd, Austin, Brock, Thompson & Rahman fights were not boring. All but 1 ended in a KO win for Dr. Steelhammer.

Exactly. Maybe when some of these younger dweebs in here get a little older & have children they'll realize the importance of good sports role models.

A KO doesn't equal excitement though. Even most rational Wlad fans were bored with watching Wlad try to KO an overmatched and disinterested Rahman. The Austin fights was too quick to be boring or exciting...just glad he got that out of the way as quickly as possible.

Brewster II was boring. As was Ibragamov.

As I've said before, Dominance can be boring.

I guess I see your point to a degree.

I was watching an old Tyson fight before he was champion & because he didn't KO the guy in the first 3 rounds the fans & even the announcers were booing a bit & looking disinterested. That's a shame really. Boxing is an art & real fans should appreciate a totally dominant performance especially when it eventually ends with a KO.

It could just be me..but I doubt I'd want my kid worshipping someone who makes his living beating the **** outta other grown men.

I think "role models" in sports is an overrated concept. Imagine how all those kids who looked up to Mike Vick, Barry Bonds, Marc McGwire and even A-Rod feel right now.

Its what Wlad does outside the ring that alot of people look up to. He uses the spotlight thats on him to shine on the problems of the world and he tries very hard to correct them. I am proud my children look up to him for that :happy

Well here's the thing about that:

When we watch boxing, Most of us watch for a class effort from two good fighters that's both artistic and exciting. HOWEVER when it's obvious that one fighter is a massive class above and the other one doesn't have much of a chance, you get an expectation. You EXPECT the superior guy to get the other out of there and give the fans what they want. It's only natural for people to turn on them when the superior talent is putting on a lame show trying to eliminate the other guy.

That's why Wlad is considered boring..it takes him a while to really eradicate lesser talents and thus, he's not "exciting."

Whether you agree or disagree is entirely up to your interpretation.
