I am not the biggest fan of his but lets be honest, he is by far the best promoter out there and puts on good shows most of the time and tries to get the big fights made. He provided proof of AJ offering Wilder a fight multiple times. He tried his hardest to make the Fury fight happen and when there were obstacles in the way everyone automatically blamed him. He takes care of his fighters better than any other promoter and is responsible for the resurgence of British boxing. As any person of his profession he will have to play two-faced from time to time but I honestly think he really wants to make big fights happen and really cares about the sport.
I maybe old school guy, but why would someone love a promoter ? He has more fanboys than some of the most successful boxers of this era. That is just sad.
What do you mean everybody. The amount that hate him is miniscule compared the the amount that don't. His book Relentless is Number One Sunday Times business bestseller
I have to admit as far as promoters being likeable ( they aren't in general really) he is probably the most likeable. Certainly the most upfront and knowledgeable about boxers(not such of boxing it self but the boxers). I like the fact Hearn is always trying to make the big fights when he has faith in his boxers e.g. wilder turned half dozen offers for AJ, Fury 3 times, Whyte and ortiz once. Delivered BJS a super fight as he said he would. Got Smith the canelo fight too. Allows his fighters to participate in the WBSS etc. Also Hearn doesn't get sued by his boxers for being misspayments like other promoters.
I like him, there I said it! He's a promoter, so as long as you understand what that role entails and adjust your expectations Accordingly, he's really not a bad example of the type. He gets flack for being born with a silver spoon, an advantage which he acknowledges, but that in turn makes me admire his work ethic. Most of us will miss him when he's gone. British boxing is a livelier, funnier and for boxers, more lucrative place with him a part of it.
I don't hate him. I don't care about him at all. He's a bit of a hypocrite but all promoters are like that. He's giving us some good fights but let's be honest....80% of the undercards are absolute ****.
He's smarmy and he insists on putting himself front and centre all the time. A lot of boxing promoters do this but Hearn has managed to make himself a bigger celebrity than pretty much every boxer he promotes bar 2. I dont hate him by the way, I actually think he's alright. I just think this is why people don't like him.
I like Hearn. He wants the big fights made. He could improve matchmaking sometimes on the Matchroom shows but overall he is a really good promoter.
Eddie Hearn is a very likable guy. I enjoy listening to him talk. He's a very good showman/salesman. Top boxing promoter. I just think it's funny how he apparently is so likable that people just take everything he says as fact. They just repeat what he says word for word like it's gospel. He's a con man like they all are. He's just more pleasant and likable as he's conning you. The best boxing promoters are carnival barkers. You want to believe what they say. And they know you want to believe. That's how it works. Nobody wants to sit and listen to a bunch of lawyers discuss contracts. People want a bit of a show. He's very good at what he does. He may go down as one of the best boxing promoters ever, when it's all said and done. He may still be doing this when he's in his 80s, too. But he's having a really bad week. (LOL)
