Why does everyone take Andre Ward's career for granted?

Andre Ward, also known as SOG has already had an amazing career despite barely fighting in the last 4 years.

We all must give RESPECT to this legend. After a green Ward with no elite level experience easily defeated the 2nd best SMW of his generation aka Mikkel Kessler, he went on to build a legendary career and become a top 5 ATG SMW without really having to do much. I don't even think Ward even tried dominating the SMW division, it just happened for him. It's really been THAT EASY.

This is why I can't take Calzaghe aka Slappy Joe's career seriously. I'm confident that if Ward picked up the WBO belt from his left over Abraham and defended it a couple more times against Welsh sheep herders and farmers, then pick up Dawson's belt at LHW, he'd already have eclipsed slappy's entire career.

I'm pretty sure Ward left the Super Six tournament with this mentality... :deal

The bottom line is this. Ward's annoying, wants too much money, bores the hell out of you, inactive, etc.

But he beat Kessler and Froch at their peak. That's some serious throwback stuff. Nobody today is doing stuff like that.

He wants money that he's deserved, as the #2 fighter on the planet

He's annoying to you, not to the rest of us. He's a humble man who loves his family very much. He is a very fascinating fighter and the best in-fighter in the game. If you can't appreciate that, you don't know boxing. :nod:hi:

There are a multitude of reasons as to why you hate him, and it's not because of the reasons you stated above. The main reason is that he beat your favourite fighters. :hi:

Money is given to well known fighters, well marketed fighters and entertaining fighters (to the masses).

    Ward is neither of these.

That's why the boxing business is in shambles, lower tier fighters like Pac/Canelo/Cotto get good paydays while a higher tier fighter like Ward gets shafted. :nono

Kessler wasn't at his peak at that time he was injured and nearly a year out of the ring before he fought Perdomo and then Ward.

He had problems with his eye's too

All I see is excuses to this fight.

This is what WE DO KNOW. Ward, who was nervous and an unknown during that time with ZERO elite level experience easily dispatched the 2nd greatest SMW of his generation behind Joe and favorite to win the tournament. Joe beat up an injured Kessler with hand problems.

Ward beat a prime, more seasoned Kessler in his first title fight. Kessler went on to have the greatest win in his career next fight in beating The Legend Carl Froch. :deal

don't get to see enough of Ward is his biggest problem

we see more Pac and Floyd fights and they fight every blue moon at the tail end of their careers...talk about wasting good time

This argument conflicts with the "[insert name] should fight the best". They don't seem to agree.

Can't name any fighters from 160-175 that he couldn't beat in top form. People like to take shots at him. But, he is/was the best behind Mayweather. I'm interested to see how he comes back after the injuries and the long lay off. That will tell a lot.

He does have talent and some good wins. But I'd rather see him fight/box. Knowing he can beat guys but fighting noone does nothing for me.
