Why does everyone think that canelo will stop cotto?

He's not a slickster like Lara. But Cotto has shown on more than one occasion that he can move and box well when needed to. The fights with Margarito he showed fast feet and a good jab and late in the fight with Mosley he showed he could box with his back to the ropes if needed.

We all know Canelo struggles with movement and having to chase an opponent, he is far better when an opponent comes to him. If Cotto boxes Canelo maybe in for a hard nights work, doesn't mean he can't win though, Cotto is past his best and Canelo is a strong fighter and we've seen Cotto get chased down before my Margarito so it's not like Cotto is a defensive genius.

 

Cotto has only been stopped by a a plastered toni and a prime Pac not your everyday fighters.

 

True, Cotto has a better chin than many expected when he was getting dropped at 140lbs. He was simply too drained at 140lbs and it effected his ability to take a punch, since moving up his chin has seemed pretty solid. Canelo isn't taking Cotto out with one or two good shots, he's going to have to wear Cotto down if he is to stop him. I see this fight going the distance.

 

Because Cotto is at the end of his career and undersized.

Cotto has been stopped twice in his career. One man used bricks. Another was prime Pacquiao.

He has an iron chin.

 

He was not drained at 140 he fought zab,clottey,pac and others at the 40s

At that time he never had trouble making weight

You know your punch resistance is pretty ****py when Floyd can hurt you, Cotto was ready to go in round 12 and Floyd would have stopped him if he was less of ***** and actually tried to go for the KO

Canelo's a tank, he has skills and he's not handicaped like Cotto's favorite opponents. He'll punish the fragile flower Cotto

Because Cotto, will get to brave for his own good.. if he Boxes he has a good chance, but if he bangs it out which i believe he will, he gets stopped late... as good as hes looked against lesser competition he still has alot of wear on his body.

And imo, he hasnt seen a Combination puncher like Canelo before.. The way Canelo puts those combinations together is beautiful!

most fighters have to lose some sort of weight to make the limit does not mean they will come in drained

When i imagine drained i think about Oscar vs Pac or ward vs dawson both those guys never made that weight in a long time and have not weighed in close to it.

Very few fighters fight at their walking around weight

 

It'll be the first time Cotto gets stopped by a non-cheater.

 

Mayweather stood toe to toe with Cotto and beat him up, Canelo is going to destroy Cotto, and I like Cotto.
