Why does fighting off the backfoot mean you are controlling the fight?

Problem is that whilst clean punching is fairly objective, the last three aren't.

I disagree with you. I see a lot of posters say moving forward is controlling the fight. Fact is, either one of them could be controlling the fight. Depends on how it plays out, take it case by case.

Foh. Did you even see the fight? Neither was in control until the final bell rang. What you said above does not apply to yesterday's fight.

Yes, and that's why there's often a lot of debate over decisions.

    That's the point...

I'm not commenting on the outcome of the fight, just the statement.

controlling the fight and being a good general means you decide when and where the action takes place. if you score points while retreating while your opponent doesnt when advancing, then youre effectively controlling the fight while on the backfoot.

Yes they are scoring criteria. If a fight goes to count back and is still tied the judges have to separate them by that criteria.

I provided a link to AIBA rules, which governs amateur boxing, since you cited amateur rules. Read it top to bottom and you'll find no mention whatsoever of your criteria.

Simply, if that's what you were taught, you were taught wrong.

But I also provided a link for PRO boxing scoring criteria -- and what you're saying makes no sense as they do have draws in pro boxing. Whatever "count back" is, it's nothing to do with professional boxing. If you've been scoring pro bouts by this criteria (which isn't even criteria in amateur boxing), you literally have no understanding of the sport.

Quite frankly, he was simply out boxing GGG. He wasn't running at all, GGG backed him up but he also backed GGG up. He also traded with GGG and got the best of most of those exchanges. GGG had the knockdown in round four and I believe in the ninth round nine he buzzed him but because of Jacobs skills, GGG couldn't capitalize on it. Other than that, he was getting his ass schooled and he knows it.

You seem to have witnessed a fight not a single other person in the entire world saw. Ggg outboxed Jacob's for the majority , scored a kd and clearly hurt Jacob's an addition 3 or 4 times

What there was none of was any "ass kicking" ggg won clearly buy fairly competitively, "schooling" wtf fight were you watching ? Not ggg Jacob's, that's for certain

It never ceases to amaze me how people can speak for the entire world, as for the fight, I called it like I saw it and I am not alone in my assessment. I don't think that GGG won the fight. Also I didn't see where GGG hurt Jacobs more than once. He shook him visibly in the ninth and that's it and by the end of that round Jacobs was back to putting combo's on GGG's dome. He out boxed the man and he out fought the man. He frustrated him and spanked him. I gave GGG four rounds at the most and that includes the knockdown round and the ninth round.

No, this is bull****. Duran often had to be the aggressor to because he had a short reach. Just because you're the shorter fighter, it doesn't mean you should be penalized.

So, today we penalize the aggressors? You know how terrible boxing would be if it was just two guys that didn't want to fight?

    This is a terrible post.
