Hand/Back issues? Margarito is a disgrace to the sport. Got absolutely pummeled by SSM, didn't do a thing without the wraps. Williams i would have liked to see, but he would get caught up in losing to Quinana, avenge that loss, and then have to move up in weight immediately after May-Hatton. The timeline doesn't fit.

People are more forgiving of taking on easier opponents every now and then when you're always fighting. Both Mayweather and Duran won their first world titles at 21: Duran in 1972, Floyd in 1998. Here are each man's number of fights per year up until Floyd's current age.

    Duran fights per year:
    1972: 6
    1973: 8
    1974: 8
    1975: 7
    1976: 4
    1977: 4
    1978: 4
    1979: 3
    1980: 4
    1981: 2
    1982: 3
    1983: 3
    1984: 1
    1985: Zero
    1986: 3
    1987: 2
    1988: 3
    1989: 2

    Floyd fights per year:
    1998: 7
    1999: 3
    2000: 2
    2001: 3
    2002: 2
    2003: 2
    2004: 1
    2005: 3
    2006: 2
    2007: 2
    2008: Zero
    2009: 1
    2010: 1
    2011: 1
    2012: 1
    2013: 2
    2014: 2
    2015: 2 (with September fight)

    Then look at this...
Check out these 11 fights over 8 years...

    1977: Viruet (LW)
    1978: De Jesus (LW)
    1979: Palomino (WW)
    1980: Leonard 2x (WW)
    1981: Minchillo (SWW)
    1982: Benitez (SWW)
1983: Cuevas (SWW) , Moore (SWW), Hagler (MW)
    1984: Hearns (SWW)

    Speaks for itself...

But I don't consider either man a cherry picker. It's just that Duran is the furthest thing from a cherry picker I've seen in my lifetime.

Where is the logic if Pacquiao fought far worse versions of DLH, Mosley, Hatton and arguably Cotto? Would you call Pacman a worse cherry picker? He's not anywhere near the worst cherry picker out there, he fights high calibre opponents in the shape of their lives more often than not.

Mayweather fights guys off their most impressive wins usually.

Can't you just give other great fighters credit? It doesn't diminish Floyd, I promise.

Moved up in weight to beat a prime Leonard.

Better than almost anything anyone has else done in boxing.

He gets a free pass after that in my book.

And leading against Hagler after 12 in a fight he ended up losing is equally impressive to me.

You're grasping at straws. Paul Williams called Floyd out in the post-fight interview when he won a close decision over Margarito. That's when the Floyd-Williams fight should have happened.

As for Margarito vs Floyd, well, you know. Floyd hid in his mansion for two years because Margarito was walking through guys like Sergio Martinez, Joshua Clottey, and Miguel Cotto like they were butter.

Floyd waited for someone with KO power to knock Margarito out. Shane Mosley did it, and two weeks later, Floyd announced he was coming back to boxing. He didn't say why, but I think you're smart enough to figure that out on your own.
