Why does Floyd Mayweather fail to stop most of his opponents?

Floyd has only 2 KO/TKOs in his past 10 fights, and one was from a sucker punch.

    Is it because he's feather-fisted?

Or is it because he doesn't go for the kill and just tries to run out the clock and win by dull decision?

He isn't feather-fisted by any means.

He doesn't look for knockouts bc thats how you get your ass knocked out. Its smarter and safer for him to just out box you and if a knockout comes so be it otherwise he is going to be boxing to a decision.

age is slowing him down..plus, correct me if i am wrong, but his gloves are not for KO.. its more cushion so the impact is not as hard.. It puts less stress on his fist.

My in my opinion, he is trying to make a stand saying this is boxing and I'll put on a clinic and a show by landing clean, crisp punch.

He doesn't commit when he doesn't need to. If he has a fight won he will stick to what he's doing rather than switching for no reason. His power is underrated in my view, when he commits he does some damage and back off aggressive opponents. A man without power wouldn't stun/wobble Cotto in the 12th with a single shot.

Mayweather is a good puncher, but not a big puncher. Mayweather usually is outweighed by several pounds in his fights, he's a defensive fighter and is highly intelligent so he won't take unneccesary risks. He's also been fighting good fighters. All these factors are why he hasn't recorded many stoppages lately. Let's look at his last 10 fights

Robert Guerrero - never been stopped

Miguel Cotto - Mayweather was moving up in weight

    Victor Ortiz - Was stopped

Shane Mosely - Never been stopped

Juan Manuel Marquez- Never been stopped

    Ricky Hatton - Was stopped

Oscar De La Hoya- Mayweather was moving up in weight, Hoya had only been stopped once and that was by a body shot at MW

Carlos Baldomir - Hadn't been stopped since very early on in his career.

    Zab Judah

    Sharmba Mitchell - Was stopped.

So if you look at the guys that he didn't stop, Judah is the only one where Mayweather wasn't outweighed by several pounds and/or wasn't facing a guy who had never been stopped.

But if Mayweather really is the best boxer in the world, wouldn't he be able to more often stop some of the fighters who have rarely or never been stopped before?

Pacquiao is smaller than Mayweather, yet he stopped Cotto and De La Hoya.

he isn't prime Tyson blasting through his opponents, he has a defensive minded style that suits him just fine

No, because he's not a big puncher. The point of any competition is to win. Mayweather has more tools in his tool belt to help him win a fight than any other fighter. That's why he's undefeated, that's why he's the best fighter out there. Yes, Pacquiao stopped Cotto and Hoya, but Mayweather beat them as well. Mayweather also fought them at a higher weight class with heavier gloves. The results of those fights indicate that Pacquiao is a bigger puncher, not neccesarily a better fighter.

So because he didnt stop them does that make you say he is not the best boxer in the world...anyway to answer your question, being the best boxer doesnt equate to how many knockouts you have...

In mannys last 10 fights he only had two more KOs than floyd but also had 2 more ass whippings.

Robert Guerrero easily outclassed how about taking a risk and trying to do it? He never even tries sometimes.

Miguel Cotto - Mayweather was moving up in weight- Cotto went up in weight because Pac stopped him at a lower weight !!

    Victor Ortiz - Was stopped

Shane Mosely - Never been stopped- old ass mosley was getting punished another case of not willing to take more risks , floyd couldve got him outta there or did more damage

Juan Manuel Marquez- Never been stopped- When a fight is so one sided you expect floyd to take a lead and make things happen, not play counter and make the smaller guy coming up 2 divisions who was then cheated on the scales to try and make the fight happen.

Ricky Hatton - Was stopped- a made to order style for mayweather for sure , fight couldve ended a lot sooner also.

Oscar De La Hoya- Mayweather was moving up in weight, Hoya had only been stopped once and that was by a body shot at MW- Oscar past his best as we know , same old pattern here , albeit a good technical display, I dont think he could dent DLH anyway so fair enough

Carlos Baldomir - Hadn't been stopped since very early on in his career. GTFO , another fight he won every second of, yet refuses to take a risk, fans leave early

Zab Judah - stopped by a lot of guys

Sharmba Mitchell - Was stopped. Was shot to hell with a knee that never truley recovered , this is not even a top win for floyd

    This is true :good:good

If you've been outboxing your opponet like Mayweather always does then why go for the KO? and in all honesty the fighters hes faced havent got KO before.

Mosley,Guerrero, these guys never been KO
