Why does Floyd Mayweather fail to stop most of his opponents?

No power. I also think he is very hesitant.

In the 7th (iirc) round of the Canelo fight he could have got the job done, but he just coasts it out to a decision. Same with the JMM fight.

Why do you make excuses for Floyd?

He didn't have a problem with his hand when he sucker-punched Ortiz.

Or when he hits women. :-(

What ass whippings? When Pac beat Tim 10 rounds to 2 and they gave Bradley the decision. or when Pac was destroying JMM, went in for the kill and walked into a haymaker?

I know that Pac was KO'd but if anyone was getting an ass whipping it was JMM. JMM doesn't want the rematch. Marquez knows he can't duplicate or top that punch.

MUCH bigger, he came in a little over the limit after vacation. The same way Pac came in bigger and over the limit for a TITLE fight against Torrecampo. Torrecampo STOPPED Pacroid. Do you mean that kind of stoppage? Floyd was showing JMM mercy.

Same as in the Guerrero fight. I thought he had a very good chance of getting him out of there around the 8th round but he took his foot off the gas (he mentioned hurting his hand as usual in the post fight interviews.)

I don't blame him for his safety-first approach. He's been fighting out of his prime for about 10 years now which all have been happening in his 4th and 5th weight classes. Not too many fighters in the history of the sport have maintained a long, dominant run in the same manner FLoyd has had when they ventured so many divisions up. He obviously employs a completely different style than how he used to fight between 130-140 lbs.

Most of the guys at 147 and pretty much all of them at 154 are naturally larger men compared to Floyd. His safety first approach has allowed him to maintain this high level of success for so long now. It's not the most action packed or fan-friendly style, but it gets the job done.

The truth is, Floyd doesn't care about boxing fans. He's selfish and goes for the easiest and safest way to win.

He did just enough to win, but didn't entertain anybody.

Unless they are fools, they won't buy Floyd's next PPV.

Floyd should be at 140 pounds. That is part of the problem. His power at the lower weights didn't move up with him. He doesn't hit all that hard at all, if you look at Maidana's face after 12 rounds. Floyd landed some good shots. Maidana doesn't really look like he was even in a fight. Floyd on the other hand with his swole up schnoz and fat lip looked like he got the worst of it, even though he won wide.

Mayweather grew into a BIG welterweight by his late 20s.

Floyd refused to fight Hatton at 140.

He couldn't even make the catch weight of 144 for the JM Marquez fight.

Floyd was a bit dry and weight-drained last night. He's now having problems making 147, and I bet he'll not fight at that weight in the future.
