Why does Frazier match up better h2h against "modern heavyweights" than Marciano?

Sorry for the heavyweight thread but it seems like nobody else really cares about shifting away from heavyweights so what the hell.

He was heavier, better adapted to fighting a tall more modern mover type like ali(who didnt exist in marcianos era).
Better defense, less likely to cut. Dont think archie moore would have dropped him.
Better resumee, much much larger number of prime or close to prime strong contenders on his CV.

However i do wonder about the relative lack of big punchers on fraziers resumee. No lyle, no shavers and he lost to foreman.
Then again marciano didnt exactly have the 90s list of strong young explosive punching contenders on his resumee either, but he fought the best available guys, even if they were old and/or small

Marcianos better punch variety with both hands is a BIG advantage but frazier is simply much more proven against bigger younger guys(and i dont consider Fraziers resumee to be very strong other than the Fotc win against an ali who hadnt adapted to his diminished physical gifts yet)

Probably because he's 20 pounds heavier than Rocky and the skill differential between the two certainly isn't enough to compensate that difference.

20lbs and much faster feet. Better hand speed. More elusive.

    Simple.

    He doesn't.

Being 20 lbs heavier would only be an advantage if he was physically stronger, which I don't think that he was.

This is why ..swap Frazier and Marciano around and who does better against the others opposition ?
I'm afraid my Cash is on Frazier .I don't see Joe struggling as much as Rock did against Jersey , Charles or Moore .
In truth I don't see Frazier needing 2 fights with either Walcott or Ezzard .
No disrespect to either man but I see Joe stopping both before the twelve round .

Can you imagine peak smoking joe being behind on points after 12 rounds and needing a KO against an almost 40 year old 200lb walcott?
    Getting dropped by Archie moore?

Not in a million years I'm afraid to say. Joe was only stopped in brutal fashion by Foreman. He's not struggling against those guys .

Frazier fought higher caliber opposition and beat ali who every one thought was unbeatable.

Frazier was actually the 7-5 favorite leading up to the fight in Vegas.
