Why does Germany steal boxers (and then make them change their names)?

They made up some god awful sounding German names for the Klitschkos which, thankfully, they didn't take

Whether boxers do it of their own volition, or have to conform to the insular climate of the Teutonic people, ultimately makes little difference.

Mike Tyson would have had to change his name to Meik Tysein to have had any chance of success in Germany. This attitude is bad for the sport and we need to highlight such cultural narrow-mindedness on ESB. :deal

More money. Germany is the the economic heart of Europe now. You either go there or the US to make money.

The german promoters and TV money made 5 of the 6 above millionairs (not sure about Stieglitz) so where is the problem. BTW The Klitschkos kept their names (just a slight adjustment) and are still ukrainians. Where is the Problem with that? :think;)

I am from Germany and I think to change the family name and the first name which was given to you, is a disgrace to your parents.
And especially in Germany it is so unnecessary, as so many immigrants live here. We are familiar with foreign names, that's really no problem. Everybody has colleagues with names you have to ask how to pronounce them.
Remember we have 3000+ years of migration history ...

Of course it makes sense to transcribe e.g. the cyrillic letters.
