Why does Hatton think that if he beats the best P4P he will be #1?

Like if it was a belt or something.

Hatton: "It will be an honor to meet Manny, the best pound for pound boxer in the world. I am the best light-welterweight, and with perseverance and hard work, i can become the best boxer in the world."

    January 2009

He thought the same thing when he fought Mayweather.

Exactly. He doesnt know how it works. It would bump him up pretty high on the list but not number 1.

So the p4p title is not transferable? That's a shame because it would be better than fighting for the IBO world title.

Because Oscar probably told him that so he will be more marketable.

Unlike most posters here, he understands that the main driving force behind P4P rankings is hyperbole rather than rational analysis.

If he knocked out Pacquiao there is a fair chance that the resulting over reaction that we see after any decisive wins in big fights would actually result in that outcome and talking up the prospect beforehand increases the likelihood of it happening.

Mate this will be the secound time that hatton has fought a prime p4p 1 fighter, now i can't think of many fighters that have done that can you :think

He has a good chance in this fight, pac is rightly the fav but Hatton has been the recognised man in his division since 2005 :deal thats not bad either is it :think

Plus he has won world titles at 2 diff weights and is probably one of the best supported fighters on planet earth.

so he won't be the recognised p4p 1 but he wont be far off

Stop busting his balls all the time not many fighters have more successfull or meaningful careers. Plus hatton guarentees one thing he comes to fight (go to war) and thats good enough for me.

Why do people have to hate on fighters, they need to grow up and realise they take this **** far to seriously and make themelves look like imature pricks. :good

I agree with a lot that you said and i dont hate hatton its just that i think beating the number one pound for pound doesnt automatically make you number one. It should earn him top 5 status at least thats for sure.

He's doesn't understand the concept of P4P. Doesn't matter he's going to sleep again.
