Why does HBO continue to shove Ortiz down our throats?

the fact is that ortiz is a very good and very exciting fighter. i don't understand why the kid gets so much hate. it's a ****in joke that someone with such an immense amount of talent gets so much hate for being brought up too fast by his management and put in with a beast like maidana. the kid's smart and he's trying to take care of his family. where the **** would his career be now if he had gotten brutally KO'd that night. jesus christ grow up.

This is what HBO does. See: Cotto, Taylor, etc.

Ortiz will be run out there by HBO until he is exposed, again.

Exactly. The hate towards Ortiz is absurd. Every internet tough guy is all over him for not going out on his shield and instead using his brains to choose to fight another day. He's got mad talent, charisma and is young, and just came back and defeated an opponent many were saying he would lose to. Ortiz is someone I will follow until his days as a boxer are complete.

Well why didn't you turn the station to showtime. Boxing fans want to complain, but won't take the smallest of steps to change anything.

Ortiz is still a young Mexican-American fighter with good tools, and a good guy. This is what HBO wants, a marketable person who will cater to the American and Mexican-American demographics. Maidana is good, but is an Argentine. Khan will have to be carefully marketed to the U.S., and will base his attraction on the merit of his skills and success, and the South Asian population in America.

Is that sound logic?... Roberto Duran? And Golota didn't quit because he's a quitter, he quit because he's bat**** crazy and had problems with medication as well as what turned out to be very serious legit injuries...and he's bat**** crazy.

ORtiz still has potential. Fast, young, and really athletic. I wish he'd use his jab more, and stand up straight instead of croutching over

This is just like a tune up fight for Ortiz to try to get his confidence back. I'll reserve judgement until he fights somebody w/ a KO punch.
