It's ******ed in today's day and age... as much as people use the internet it would just serve as a free promotional tool... plus its not like you can go somewhere and buy the fights from hbo or something which in turn would prevent hbo from making money.....
ok and.... theres no other way to access them... they might as well keep them shits up so people can watch them as a reference and show them to their friend when another fight comes along its viral marketing and they dont even have to do **** except for up the fights to youtube...
HBO has no reason to allow their fights to be seen for free. They are a premium channel w/ paying subscribers. If they were to rebroadcast them, it would likely be from their site anyway. Too many legal issues for them to just allow anyone to post it on youtube.
their cd? am i missing something... cause i know your not talking about a compact disc... i feel like either i am completely ******ed and missing something or you guys are completely ******ed and dont understand marketing
even better.. vh1 posts all of their shows on vh1.com its 2009 for christ sakes.. times evolve and the internet is one of the most important marketing tools in the world
Like VHI, ABC, NBC...etc. Would you be wiling to pay a monthly fee to watch their fights? If yes, how much a month? Because I can see that as the only compromise. Like I said, they have paying subscribers. They aren't going to give away anything for free. For access to their entire library, I would easily throw down $20 a month.
It is a joke when you can't even buy official copies of the fights from the network. I would MUCH rather pay 20 bucks for a DVD with a bit of production value and good DVD quality footage than have to tape trade. But really who does put out good quality official fights? Don King put more into the Xbox video game than I've seen availabel on DVD... I guess you can always watch his stuff on the king website...
for example... Miguel Cotto Vs Joshua Clottey is coming up in the next couple weeks... this fight obviously isnt having any 24/7 or any real promotion... why not put up some of these guys hbo fights so people will pass the links around viral-ly to show to friends and stuff
I have no trouble seeing the fights so it's not like I give a ****, but HBO are being stupid. Shutting down the replays will just frustrate people away from boxing. Niether television companies or record companies understand the marketing potential of the internet. They've been told 100's of times by lawyers and marketing experts, but old men at the top won't listen.
