Most of HBO fights are released on DVDs and CDs :deal . . . if not . . . tape the replays . . . then burn it on a CD or DVD . . . of course you are ******ed not knowing this. I have a collection of Ali's fights; Tyson's fights; Lewis fights; Jones fights; Leonards fights; Durans fights and many more . . . all on CDs and some on DVDs. If you can't find any copy in the market . . . then do the burning by yourself. :deal
right i understand that but there is NOWHERE ELSE ... to get the fights... if hbo sold these fights after they occurred i would totally understand the point you are making..... but vh1, mtv & bet are programs you have to "pay" for yet they still post full episodes of their programs after they occur... why would hbo not do the same thing? if they just sit at hbo's headquarters and collect dust... what the **** is the point.. they might as well do themselves the favor and up the fights... it would be damn near free marketing... they would just have to pay someone to up the fights to a computer than up the fights to youtube.... hbo already has a youtube channel that has plenty of boxing highlights on it.. the next logical step would be posting full fights if i dont have to pay for the **** i watch on mtv, bet, & vh1... why would it differ for hbo? obviously it gives people access to shows & stuff who dont pay cable to access those channels but its still a very specific audience... it would do more help then harm
wtf are you talking about.... hbo doesnt "SELL" those fights.... those are dvd's & cd's made by bootleggers... there isnt a specfic location/website where i can go and order fights through the hbo network... i dont know what your talking about with this .. "hbo fights are released on dvds" nonsense...show me a website where hbo packages and releases their "licensed" fights....
HBO isn't in the fighting industry (as odd as that sounds)...they are in the entertainment industry. They don't give a **** where fans go for fights or what they will do for fights...they give a **** if people subscribe to their channel. That's it. Basic cable and premium channels are NOT the same.
good point... im about to check hbo. com and see if they put up their shows........ but I'd be willing to bet that hbo has a small & separate department that handles sports affairs..
bootleggers maybe . . . point is . . . it's in the market. :yep The Fight collections are advertised on some boxing sites where I bought some of mine . . . the rest I collected them myself.
They aren't even close to being as bad as professional baseball. If you just put a 2 second clip of a homerun up there they'll have that **** off faster than you can blink.
right and that i know... thats just as bad as youtube if anything.... those people can be arrested for illegal distributing property that doesn't belong to them
They do, but the reason they show sports at all is to generate subscriptions. If you get HBO and miss the fight, you can even watch it on demand for free later on. But you have to kick in that $10 a month.
And god, it's not like anyone else in the world gives a **** about baseball but Americans and Japanese.
these people are stupid as ****.... i cant wait for a couple years for sports to catch up with the evolving market... i mean think about it.... people are marketing the product for them I tivo a (baseball/boxing/basketball/hockey) event I up it to youtube 1000000000 other people view it.... it builds up hype for future events.... i guess maybe it would bring up issues with espn & other people who are licensed to show sports events.. i really dont get it at all..... in essence its literally free marketing... boxing especially could capitalize on this edit: theres definitely something in this whole thing that I am missing as far as the business goes im sure
what subscriptions? i could have no cable in my house.. go to a public library... go to vh1. com and watch anyone of their shows... and then return to my house with no cable... what subscription stuff are you talking about? yeah but they take them shits down after a couple weeks... thats my point.. the fights just sit there in some vault somewhere and collect dust... they might as well post them babies online..... or like someone else mentioned you can pay like 20$ to access an internet library to view the fights
You need to subscribe to HBO. You need to pay $10 a month to watch HBO. You don't need to pay anything extra to watch VH1 other than basic cable, and they make their money off of advertising. HBO makes no money on advertising, only subscriptions. It's like pay per view, except you get to view an entire month for only $10 instead of paying $50 to watch 3 hours of fights. If you can watch the fights for free, then there's no motivation to buy the subscription. If you watch a VH1 show for free, it's probably because you weren't going to watch it on live TV anyway, and as part of a serial, it makes it more likely that you'll watch the show with the advertising in the future. What would make sense is if they put fights up on the HBO website for a $10 fee. Then it would be like buying a month's subscription to watch the fight. But putting it up for free completely defeats the purpose of them carrying boxing at all.
