Why does Hopkins get very little credit for beating Tarver?

No...I'm basing that thought on his performance against his opponents in the bouts just preceding the Hopkins fight and in the Hopkins fight itself.:good

DLH wouldn't last more than three rounds with calzaghe and RJJ.

thats cause Tarver looked like an average journeyman at best in his comeback fights against Muriqi and the other complete tomato can.

I gave Hopkins alot of credit for the win though

Based on what logic or reasoning are you making your bold assumption?

Unfortunately Hopkins will alway be the villian. He got some sympathy for the two Taylor robberies, but that was brief.

:patsch What fight were you watching? Winky did not almost knock him out in the 9th. Winky came out of that fight badly bruised.

As I said...by looking at their respective form at the time and the fact that Hopkins had to go up 2 divisions in weight in one go.

As some have said: few are as privileged and get the credit for what they've achieved as much as Hopkins. He is ranked the 4th best fighter in the world at 43, for chrisesake!

He is also involved in one of the biggest earners in boxing this year, and has been a top earner for a long time, even as a 40 year-old fighting at 175...he is very lucky and gets, if anything, much too much credit, because he is fortunate to be American.

Well, his bouts before Hopkins were with Johnson and RJJ. And i think he beat Johnson twice and we all know the story about RJJ. So what evidence did you see PRIOR to the Hopkins fight that suggested Tarver was washed up?

You guys have very short memories. B-Hop got a huge amount of credit after the Tarver fight. I remember coming to ESB and seeing half the threads on the first two pages with titles like: "Why I think Hopkins is an ATG", "Hopkins best MW evah", "I wanna suck B-Hop's dick right now", "Hug me Bernard", "Hopkins is God" etc etc etc.

BTW I also think he is an ATG.

    Harry Simon did.

PS I don't watch fights by boxrec, I watch them with my eyes on TV or PC monitor.

Soliman was hurt badly in the 9th rd. and stumbled across the ring, nearly falling into the ropes.

And those bruises on Winky's face were from his high guard. Soliman landed very few meaningful shots, he just threw alot of punches. Winky also had a very high connect percentage.

Making a fight exciting and making it close are two different things:deal
