Why does Hopkins get very little credit for beating Tarver?

If that Columbian had beaten Tito, DLH, Tarver, been undisputed 160lb champ and then Lineal champ at 175, Winky would have surely fought him, becuase accomplishing these things (no matter the nationality) would ASSURE you big money fights.

The way you are talking about Hopkins only being where he is because he's American is not only disrepectful and hateful, but you have yet to come with any semblance of a valid argument to support your "theory".

I think the reason why it is an underrated win is because people thought that Hopkins was so far past it in losing to Taylor twice that they wrote him off, even against Tarver.

The fact that he won shows he wasnt shot. Beating Antonio Tarver the fighter is not that great an accomplishment.

My point? Glad you asked. My point is maybe it is the States that need to know more about the world than vice versa. We have been quite well versed in America and its culture for a number of years.

I was arguing that it's for a reason fighters all over the world want to fight in America, especially against American fighters. The reason is that unless you are known and respected in America, it doesn't matter what you've achieved. You earn less and you are underrated compared to your American peers. America is the land of boxing! This is why Haye v. Maccarinelli was fought at 2 am in the morning in Britain - so that it would be prime time in the USA, even though these two were Brits and the Americans didn't even care about the fight!

They wouldn't get a shot at a big American name unless they were huge to start off with. Take Hanshaw, for example. He'll never be a titlist! He might never even be a contender, unless a champ gives him a chance in a voluntary defence. Yet, he got a shot at the great RJJ, when he was still up and coming! He got a shot at bagging an ATG, in America! Would he had that chance if he had not been American/fighting out of America? No! You see what I mean?
