Why does Hopkins get very little credit for beating Tarver?

A Columbian wouldn't get a shot at these ATGs, unless he was fighting out of the USA, with the backing of US networks, who wanted to make him a star. To get into that position, you need to be very lucky, if you;re not American. Either that, or you need to be extremely good, in which case, of course, everything is possible.

Take Miranda, for example; he's Columbian. If he hadn't been fighting out of the USA, with the backing of American promoters, do you think he would have gotten a shot at Abraham and Pavlik? Do you think he would have gotten the backing of US TV if he had been fighting out of Columbia? I don't! Of course, there is a chance he could have, but it's unlikely...see what I mean?

And when was I disrespectful about Hopkins?:huh

I don't particularly respect him as a human being but I think he's a very talented, very intelligent fighter, a real winner, who has achieved amazing things, who was one of the best fighters in the world for a while and who is still performing very impressively, especially for a 43 year-old. However, I don'y think that currently he is one of the best fighters in the world. He is my top 20 odd...but no better, currently. And I don't think he would have beaten a prime Tarver coming up two divisions...just my view; I'm not being disrespectful...

I do complain about the influence that America has in boxing, especially when that influence is not positive: circle jerking of top US fighters, overrating and overhyping of US fighters and all that comes with it: European fighters not getting credit they deserve/being underrated/underhyped/not getting a chance of fighting big American names to prove their worth...etc...but, without America, boxing would be much, much poorer, so...on the whole...yeah...I grumble about some things, but I also want the fighters that I like to make it big in the USA, because unless they do...it's as if they haven't really made it...see?

Maybe because many of the greatest fights of all time were fought on American soil.

I see your point regarding America's influence, but this is the place where fighters of any nationality can make the most money (there are some notable exceptions). Most fighters dream of coming to America to fight because this is the big stage. Nobody is forcing foreign fighters at gun point to fight in America.

You mean "you're so clever". Anyway, I'm not trying to bait you. You claimed that beating Tarver is not much of an accomplishment, yet Roy failed to do so 2 out of 3 times. One of those losses resulted in Roy being laid out; stumbling all over the ring like a coke addict after a bad fix. Roy is a great fighter, yet he failed to beat Tarver on two occasions. Sure, he wasn't in his prime, but neither was Hopkins. The weight issue doesn't hold much water either. Roy beat Tarver his first fight after coming down from HW.

Frankly you know that Roy was a different type of fighter and that Hopkins has aged much much better. Hopkins now is closer to his best than Roy is now or was against Tarver.
