If any of these guys go broke its their own damn fault. Maybe if they lived within their means and didnt keep ridiculous entourages they wouldnt end up broke. It happens in every single sport from the NFL to the NBA. Granted the other sports appear to do a better job educating athletes about money management through mandatory rookie classes and whatnot but still. A ton of people make a lot less over their lifetime than boxers do over a few years yet they seem to make it. I dont feel bad at all for guys that were too stupid to figure out that the millions you made while fighting needs to last a long time.
I'd love a shirt like that. I guess I'll google. Never saw anyone of this at a store, I'm sure it's online but not at your regular boxing online shops I guess.
If everyone on the forum chips in a few bucks we can change that. Count me in for $100 if somebody starts a legit foundation.
Sadly, most athletes from boxing, NFL, and pro wrestling wind up going broke. Don't know if it's as common in the other sports besides the NBA. Lack of education, unsustainable spending, falling victim to great scam artists, parasitic "friends"/family, or just flat out bad luck investing (skilled investors can still lose a fortune, too) all play a part. It's important to remember that the same part of your brain responsible for sound decision making is also the part that gets damaged via the sports themselves, which makes it even more likely that an ex-athlete from these sports would do something dumb with the money or be more likely to be scammed out of it. That wouldn't apply to the NBA of course, but I can't believe there's no correlation between the erratic and self-destructive nature of many of the ex-athletes of those sports and all the head trauma they suffer.
There are many white women with far more cash than Oprah. Take for example the many white women who divorced their billionaires husbands and got 60-70% of their cash. Like thousands of others Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Robert Johnson (BET) all lost huge chunks of their cash in divorce settlements. Ford's ex-wife got over $800M cash + royalties in her settlement. Johnson's Ex-wife got 70% of the assets, or something like $600M in cash plus BET shares. I read that Tyson owes his last Ex something like $10M. Or take the Heirs of billionaire families like the Rothschild, Vanderbilt, Dupont, or hundreds of other white US families.
Yea man Joe Frazier represented the blue collar worker and was a quiet man, but fierce competitor who when dropped always picked himself backup and ready to go down on his shield. I admire Ali for what hes done, but I dont admire Joe any less. He was one of the most determined fighters ever and great role model for the sport. Ali might of been the greatest, but I think Frazier always had his number. Foreman was successful with the grills Frazier loves to wear cowboy hats they should design one to his liking and he get a small percentage. Hes a living legend even today he could make money no problem with fight or any type of promotions as long as he has a connection with the public. But thats the thing we dont know how reclusive he might be and he still has a thorn on his side with Ali that might shoo some fans into into thinking hes a bitter old man.
Ali had the benefit of the Bobfather to help him navigate through the shark infested waters of the business end of boxing and the world of finance...who smokin' joe have?
