Why does Joshua Clottey recover so quickly from injuries?

Floyd easily beats Margo, but this fight is not going to happen.

I'd love to see Clotty get another shot. I'd pick Clottey in the rematch.

A fight with Floyd would certainly be more desirable. Unfortunately, he's retired and has no interest in fighting Margo.

Lucky for Floyd, he has people like you who stand up for him and say he would win, so he doesn't appear as scared as he really is.

Either way, he owes it to Margarito whether he would win easily or not.

I responded to most of these points in your Margo Clottey thread, to which you have yet to respond.

Serious bias and assumptions in your post bro.

Not by any means. NONE of Margo's shots penetrated Clotteys defense in round 1. Ask yourself if your counting punches that landed on his arms. Clottey started slowly this round.

Your convieniently ignoring the fact that round 5 the fact that Clottey through virtually no punches in this round, when in the previous rounds he had been punishing, yes PUNISHING Margo, and just attribute it to Margo's stellar elite boxing adjustments? Nothing to do with any hand injury. For sure.:rofl

I don't know where you get this conclusion from. He boxed because he was trying to give Margo a different look with his injured hand. He wanted to rely more on his overhand right / right uppercut. Also, Clottey stood his ground with Margo the whole night. I'm sure your a guy who would pick Cotto over Clottey if they ever fought. Clottey unlike Cotto lasted through a Margo fight without getting rocked or completely gassed. The reason Clottey came out boxing because he had no left and he needed to try and give Margo a different look, anything that he could do be successful.

So I guess he was acting in between rounds in his corner. And I guess when the doctor checked his hand and he grimaced obviously he was acting. And I guess when his punch rate dropped off 75% after round 4 he was acting, he Marg just stepped his game up to 30 higher levels.

Please. Margo did not change his style from round 1 to round 12. If you believe otherwise your in denial.

And Yea he kept throwing his left but not even CLOSE to as much in the first few rounds. And seriously rewatch the fight after the fifth and watch his left when he throws it. Most of the time his left is nothing more then a Malinaggi slap, he does throw a couple of hard ones like you said. But in the beginning that was his go to punch. The first few rounds that thing was practically ripping Margo's skin open.

    AnOthEr KeYBOaRd WarRior.

Nah, you just don't understand boxing. Clottey is a 6 round fighter. If he can win the first 6 rounds and maybe take a round or two in the second half the fight, he can win against Margo.

    If he can't, he won't.

Clottey is tough, but Margo is tougher. Margo already beat Clottey, and if Clottey was so sure of himself he would have called Margo out for a re-match.

All they said to eachother is that they both felt like rocks. I don't give a **** that you think Clottey can beat him, but stop making excuses. Clottey and Margo both had injuries, but Margo was the harder man.

If you wanna say Clottey will beat him in the re-match that's fine, but see a replay of the first fight with Clottey, the musclebound fighter, going strong in the first few rounds and that gassing out late when Margarito takes over.

This time though, unlike last time when Margarito was banging up Clottey in the corner for about a minute, Clottey might not survive.

I'm assuming you haven't watched much Clottey because the guy has a tendency to gas out in his fights.

I like how when people disagree with you they don't understand boxing.

I've watched a number of his fights. Vs Corrales he never faded.. vs. Judah he was picking up the pace as the rounds went on.

I never mentioned anything about who would win in a rematch. I think it would be a close tough fight, and I'd pick Clottey just because he's my fighter. Whoever wins will have to grind it out. I think this would be a great fight to watch.

So, you watched him fight Corrales, a former lightweight go against Clottey when Clottey weighed 170, and Corrales stupidly went right at him because that the only way he knows how to fight, and everything he threw at Clottey did no damage at all.

What about his fight before that against Fernandez or whatever the **** his name is. Clottey looked like pure ****. Clottey is a good fighter, but he fades.

Either way, you can pick him over Margo if you want, but I pick Margo.

Yea well.. Diego (RIP) was no pillow he was 160 lbs. Clottey fought Margarito before that. If your talking about Flores he pulled out a massive UD.

Not to mention that MD over Gutierrez. I think he needs to give him a rematch now that he is a great paper title holder.

Clottey didn't stop punching. I guess he had a swollen hand. He was simply outworked. I get swollen hands when I fight too.

I'm just wondering, why is clottey's claim of injuring his hand is well accepted as an excuse for his performance against margarito while cintron's same claim of an injured hand against feliciano (and the 1st margarito fight) aren't. why the double standard?

Back to the topic of this thread, here's the obvious reason Josh Clottey recovers so quickly from his injuries: he doesn't. The guy is consistently avoided and rarely lands big fights, he can't afford to let any opportunity slip while he heals. Everyone would rather beat up on clowns like Judah rather than fight a real champion like Clottey for less money, he has no choice but to be available anytime anywhere and provide no excuses to the other fighter's camp. If Clottey admitted he was hurt, Arum would offer Clottey the fight in a heartbeat knowing Clottey would have to reject b/c of his injury. This way they can lay claim to having offered Clottey the fight, and pursue an easier fight for more money. This satisfies the promoters, the camps, and the media.

I assume you fight 12 rounds against world-class competition? Ya, way to compare your barn gym sparring to the fighting the best welterweight in the world.
