Why does Khan want to be Number 2?

Because Virgil will atleast be in the country during his training camps.

 

I think a trainer can train up to 3 top class fighters and keep all 3 happy. Depending on the fights and training camps you just look. Andre Wards only boxed last month no fight has been sorted out since meaning Wards on his holidays until a fight is sorted so Khan is Virgil Hunters number 1 fighter to train for the time being. Both Khan and Ward may never clash on his time with both fighters. Just my opinion.

 

He obviouly brought this up with hunrer. According to him hunter says he doesnt have a number 1 fighter and all his guys are priority. Where as roach made it pretty clear who calls the shots and where the whole team is training.

 

Don't worry, when Khan loses again, he will politely ask Virgil to drop Ward. And when Virgil tries to keep a straight face while telling him it's not feasible and Khan walks away, with his head held high, knowing the new loss was not his fault, exactly, he will consult Shields. Then when he loses under Shields, after another undoubtedly great success under his new, more fitting guidance, he will ask Shields to drop Adamek, and end up with Cotto's trainer. Then, when he has a miraculous comeback where he's felt better than ever, he'll ask Diaz to drop Cotto after losing to Robert Garcia at 154 in a shocker upset. Diaz will not oblige. Khan will then leave boxing forever and go live in the forest where he eats nuts and berries and stays ever aware of bears while foraging, occasionally running across roads and scaring drivers who will then report a new wildman species with large ears.

This 'first priority' thing has been overblown. As long as Virgil remains in one country, and isn't bothering with numerous other big fighters he has to travel all over the world for, then it won't matter that Andre Ward is his main pupil.

 

Amir mentioned how Virgil only plans to go on the night of the fight to his other fighters fights. I was a little worried with how Virgil would be out for regular intervals because of his other fighters, but it doesn't seem to be that way.

 

Who does Number 2 work for?

 

Amir Khan is a bigger fighter than Andre Ward, and is competing in the most competitive division 140/147.

He is not number 2 in my opinion.

He is in the top-5 most popular boxers on the planet.

Andre Ward is somewhat of a no mark, and nobody is bothered about his fights.

 

Khan isn't half the fighter Ward is! Infanct he is one loss away from being pretty much finished at the top level, massively overrated
