Why does Larry Merchant hate Mayweather so much?

Do you really need to think about that or is this more sarcasm? If it's a real question I would assume it's because Floyd acts like a spoiled child outside of the ring and often overly cautious inside of the ring. Larry is old school, he likes fighters who take all comers and fight for the purpose of entertainment, which is why he yelled out "I love you Shane Mosley!" a couple of weeks ago.

 

Merchant from what I've seen criticizes any fighter who ducks the best competition or fights in a lackluster fashion. Ever bit of criticism Floyd has gotten from Merchant has been well deserved. Has nothing to do with race and everything to do with saying you're the best but than ducking the best.

All above is true. ALso, it is clear he doesnt like the rap/cool/hiphop/gangsta/blingbling/money is everything look/attitude. Neither do i.

Can Larry put three sentences together quickly? What's with that slo-mo senior-moment speech pattern he's got? Makes me think he's had a minor stroke or something. Still, Mayweather is obnoxious, not as great as he thinks he is, and pretty much unlikable, so you can't blame Merchant.
