Why does Larry Merchant hate Mayweather so much?

He maye have just gotten tired of Floyd crying about respect & money, all while acting like some jack ass hood BET reject, while STILL NOT drawing in fans. At the time he was bitching about his pay, did Floyd really not understand how and WHY the Big purses are made? It would be like crying and moaning about minimum wage job while people with degrees got the higher salaries.

 

Becuase Floyd put a whoopin on Gatti his idol !

 

First of all I had that fight 119-109. So yeah it was a "clinic" as you say, but honestly it was one of the most boring fights I've ever seen, and the crowd had every right to boo the non-action. If you want to talk domination, the fight with Gatti would be a perfect example.

But as someone posted earlier, Jones and Hopkins are fighters I like. Not the same goes for Mayweather, although I respect his great skills. It's the fact that he had no intention to build a legacy at 147 (where he won the green belt from Tata), neither he intended to ever defend his title.

People diss him so much for that and for leaving the sport when dangerous fighters emerged at 147, where he last fought, and in such a young age. I know you like him so much you will defend his decision to retire by saying he didn't have motivation after all his accomplishments, but that's just an opinion and not everyone believes it, which is the reason PBF gets so much hate. I don't hate him, but I think his record and "collection" of belts are a product not only of pure skill, talent and effort, but good career management and careful choice of opponents too.

 

I'm guessing it's for the same reason why most hate Mayweather: he's a whiny little sook who can't take criticism, he talks **** beyond his accomplishments, he does a bit of cherry picking and he often fights cautiously in fights and doesn't lay it all on the line.

It has nothing at all to do with race. Larry Merchant LOVED Pernell Whitaker for instance. Pernell didn't sook despite getting absolutely raped by judges in his career, he talked **** but actually backed it up and more when he was in the ring, he didn't cherry pick and he always had a high volume of punches when he fought, despite not having much pop in his shots. Sweet Pea also hung around past his best and still fought the best, and proved his balls when his skills had faded. Floyd retired crying that his body was breaking down on him and that he lost the motivation to fight.

FMJ acts like a ***** & has more talent than any other fighter & capable of delivering entertaining performances & doesnt a lot of the time.

Of course, saying he`s better than Ray Robinson probably doesnt bring a smile to old Larry`s face either.

 

After Mayweather hits the canvas we would hear "Antonio Margarito, I LOVE YOU!!"

 

Floyd is a prizefighter that is more suited for pro-wrestling or the circus. He's not a true competitor, which is truly sad because he does have all of the skills to be great. With him retiring or ducking or whatever you want to call it and not facing the best competition available, its like Superman deciding not fly. What a waste.

 

Floyd Jr hates Larry more that Larry hates him but he hates his father the most LOL.

 

Larry doesnt hate Floyd nearly as much as some of the sad saps on this forum do. However, he is a drunk ****** 90% of the time, as to why I cant see why most of the people on this forum swear by him. 50% of the things he says you cant even understand. It is clear he is hitting retirement home age.
