Why does Manny deserve 50/50 split vs. PBF, your best argument?

I think Mayweather deserves more because he has sold more....

Marquez vs. Mayweather did more than both Pacman vs. Marquez bouts

Oscar vs. Mayweather did just about as much as Cotto vs. Pac & Pac vs. DLH

Mayweather vs. Hatton did higher than Pac. vs Hatton....

I think Mayweather has a point.....

    THOUGHTS?

Plus..... this whole non-sense of Pac wanting the fight at 145.. is crap!

    Nah. 50-50 is fair.

But I personally prefer 147. Pac already proved he can take the punch at 147.

    50-50 is fair.

I mean, I don't mean to **** on Manny but if any bigger number is going towards anyone it should be Floyd who is the bigger draw.

But that number should not exceed 55/45.

They are going to make so much money it shouldn't matter.

pac has closed the gap consdierably in terms of being a cash cow. pbf is still the bigger draw but not by much.

Mayweather has done better historically, Pacquiao has done better recently. Maybe Mayweather has the slightly better negotiating position, but it's not different enough to justify being a big puss about it. And frankly, I don't really care as long as the fight gets made. I wrote an article about this a few months ago, but Manny has helped turn the tables a bit with the Cotto fight doing better than the Marquez fight.

While I see your point , I'm not sure it is a fair comparison. In my opinion Mayweather has peaked in popularity when these fights were fought, while Manny is still getting bigger with every fight. If he were to fight the same guys now I would think the numbers would be close.

They don't have any choice. Both are popular enough that they could fight any ******* and make more money than they could possibly need. Going 50/50 is a way to make the fight happen and keep their pride. There is no fight with a greater demand; the word 'deserve' doesn't have any real meaning in this context.

    Just look at the names.

    Manny - Marquez 500k. Mayweather-Marquez 1 Million.

If Mayweather fought Cotto, he would of done more than 1.25

The problem is that there are intervening factors with all of the fights that make them not directly comparable. OF COURSE Mayweather-Marquez did better than Manny-Marquez - Manny wasn't a star yet when that fight happened. Not only that, but Manny-Marquez aired for free on Azteca while Mayweather-Marquez did not (I think all Top Rank PPVs tend to underperform a bit for this reason). With Hatton, he no longer had the aura of being an undefeated fighter, and had looked kinda crummy against Lazcano two fights before. Etc. etc.

Also, while PPV brings in the most money, consensus is that Pacquiao brings more of his own fans to the live gate, which means there's more $ there, and probably a bigger site fee.

I think Mayweather does have the edge, but not more than a few percent. Time is money as well, and if they want to get the ball rolling, it's probably worth it to just make a straight offer instead of this 60/40 BS. Everyone knows the fight will be near 50/50. Everyone knows it will be at 147. Everyone knows it will have 8 oz gloves. So why keep bulshitting about those issues? Just lay it out on the table publicly, and get a deal done.

This fight should be 50/50. Nothing more than 55/45 for Mayweather.

Actually, I think 52.5/47.5 would be best. Mayweather is the slight better draw, they are going to combine for the BIGGEST fight in the history of the sport.

Nobody buys PPV to see Mayweather fight they buy it to see his opponents. Honestly Mayweather has no significant fan-base and it showed in the HATTON weigh in where they were all basically Brits.
