Why does Mayweather constantly avoid saying Cotto's name or talking about him at all?

Maybe Cotto just has a lower reward for PBF as compared to DLH. DLH is the money man (sorry Floyd, that's true) and hence any sound businessman will go to the biggest reward. We boxing fans want the best fight there is but most boxers will go for the highest reward. That's just the way it is.

 

Oscar is a bigger threat than Cotto

 

I'm sorry but why is this a big deal? Mayweather is not specifically saying anything about Cotto (or ANYONE ELSE BUT OSCAR) because provided Oscar wins his tune up(s) they are going to fight.

He already has some kind of agreement in place to fight Oscar. So he can't schedule anything until next year anyway!

Then theres the fact that Cotto is already signed to fight Gomez! By the time Cotto is ready to fight again after fighting Gomez... Floyd will probably be fighting Oscar!

If Floyd says "**** it I'm going to fight Cotto not Oscar!", what happens if Cotto loses to Gomez? Well he can't really fight Cotto anymore, and the fight with Oscar won't happen because after Oscar has just been forgotten like that.

If Floyd just says "I will probably be fighting Oscar", he keeps his options both open for the possibility of a big fight with Oscar, AND a big fight with Cotto after Cotto beats Gomez and probably a legit opponent later in the year. It would happen in 2009 I presume.

Also heres another thing... if Floyd calls off the deal with Oscar so he can try to get Cotto... well Oscar is going to be looking for another fight, and who is the man who said he would rather fight Oscar than Floyd? MIGUEL COTTO

I can see if you hate Floyd and are a fan of Cotto that all this can look like Floyd ducking Cotto, but if you think about the way the matches are being made for '08, and what the fighters have already SAID - what I've outlined are the only things that can happen.

At this point, Floyd just ain't fighting Cotto until '09. I don't see why people are just constantly whining about Floyd "not fighting Cotto". As we know from whats been said in interviews, Floyd has not said he WON'T fight Cotto, and after he dispatches Oscar it will be the best matchup for him to end his career on!! Keep in mind that by spring or summer of 2009, Cotto will have beaten Gomez, and I'm guessing a big name in the welterweight division. By this point the fight will be much bigger, Cotto will have a bigger fan base.. hell, Mayweather probably will have no choice but to fight Cotto. He'll be put into a position where he will be perceived as scared to fight Cotto if he doesn't. Perceived not just by Floyd-haters and Cotto-lovers, but by EVERYONE!

The Only reason there not fighting right now is because Arum owes Floyd millions which admits too , but states he will not pay because a member of floyd team owes him money .. all of this can be googled or if you have been following both fighter path since 2000 you should now the whole story.

 

I hate to say this because normally I'm the guy riping on PBF for ducking people but people need to be patient here. The PBF Cotto fight will happen. Mosely PBF may never happen, PBF Margo will never happen and PBF Burto will also never happen. But believe me PBF cotto will, we're all just going to have to wait on it.

 

If Floyd even dreams of beating Cotto, he better wake up and apologize

 

Yeah back in 2005 when Cotto was just starting to be recognized and is making it up the ladder.

I think you know in your heart that isn't true. Miguel Cotto truely believes in his ability, and would only agree to fight Mayweather if he thought he could win. Cotto isn't the type to accept a fight based purely on the pay day, that's Floyd Mayweather Jr.
