Why does Mayweather's legacy depend on Pacquiao?

To be honest with you, Cotto was a well timed selection who posed little risk to Floyd but big PPV. Forget the Cotto name, Judah gave Floyd more of a fight...Cotto was a poor choice.

There are only 3 fights that can push Floyd on, well 2 really - Canelo is the 3rd but I think it's a stylistic safe choice but hard to criticise as he's 154, young, hungry, unbeaten - so represents a bit more bravery.

Martinez and Pacquiao will enhance Floyd's legacy if he beat them, no doubt. Those are the 2 fights he should be pushing for but he will never go near either of them. I don't think he'll go near Canelo either....it's Guerrero next but could be wrong...

 

It's unacceptable when you have two great fighters, both future ATG's, fighting in the same division, at the same time, to not fight eachother

Completely, and utterly unacceptable

All either man can do is do his utmost to ENSURE there are no problems on his side of the 'negotiations'

And neither man has done that

Floyd with his 40mil offer, which is just not going to happen.

And Pacquiao with his collusion of his teams constant ducking and diving and lies and changes of story

They both robbed us of seriously what would have been the biggest fight in HISTORY

I'm not talking about in the last 10 years, or 20 years. Ever.

And we didn't get to see it.

Bottom line is both camps are a disgrace for not making this fight happen, the fans who have paid for these guys have been robbed

 

The reason why these guys did not need each other because they aren't really the same size nor were they in the same division.

Unlike Delahoya/Trinidad, Ali/Frasier, Ali/Foreman, and Leonard/Hearns who were always in the same weight class, their careers were destined to cross.

But, Floyd and Pac, there were talks about catch weights at one point. This fight will not effect eithers legacy much in the way Leonard/Pryor did not effect eithers carreer.

This....Mayweather was already considered the greatestever or at least top 5 at 130 while many had not made it to the world stage.....neither guys legacy is affected also many did not fight at welterweight until Mayweather had already the ones that say it does are the ones who made manny the guy to beat him
