Why does no one count Paul Williams win over Marg?

It was a nice win for Williams. What messed it up for me was not that he refused the immediate rematch, but that he went out and got beaten on his first defense.

Which gives a solid argument that Williams might have been lucky when he beat Margo the same way Quintana got lucky when he beat Williams. Or was Williams lucky when he KO'd Quintana in their second fight:think

Either way, Margarito/Williams better take place no later than next year!

Tell me, would anyone talk about PW as one of the best current welterweights without that close win over Margo ? I dont think so. Before that fight it was all about Floyd, Mosley , Cotto , Margo. Now Its Margo, PW, Cotto.
Win over Margo opened doors for PW to welterweight elite.

edit: or atleast its my opinion that PW should be treated as one of the top 3 welters right now.

I think a lot of people give him credit for the win, but there are still others who make excuses about how it was "controversial" and how Margo had Paul "out on his feet" in the 11th.

    All Bull****!

It was a great fight, and if you really look at the fight objectively, Paul won 2 of the last three rounds. Margairto is a great fighter who I give all the credit in the world for beating the brakes off of Cotto. But a lot of his fans are bitter about the decision (which was actually a best-case score for Antonio) and just don't want to give credit where it is due.

whether people give him credit or not, it still shows as a victory in record book. And he will probably do it again after Margarito stop chasing De La Hoya.

It wasn't a weak win. Close, but not weak.

they're both great fighters and a win is a win. it's just that pw didn't look too good winning it so it raises alot of questions. it's that simple. i personally think margo will win it in a rematch, but whether he kicks paul's ass 20 times won't change the outcome of the first. there's also the question of how pw would of fared against cotto who also ko'd quintana in brutal fashion, even tho it took him longer, but quintana was undefeated at the time coming off an important victory over another undefeated fighter. i think with all this talent at 147-154 it's gonna be really hard to have dominant champions, but we might have a golden era in the near future with santos, margo, berto, pw, angulo, kirkland, and the list goes on

Williams win against Margarito was not weak. I'm a Margarito fan to but to say Williams win against Margarito was weak just doesn't make sense.

That's what i'm saying. Especially since Aztek is such a big Margo fan, its just silly to call it a weak win.

i thought williams boxed brilliant in that fight.

that was a comfortable 8-4 victory in my book.

margarito laid it on williams at times and williams toughed it out.

excellent fight and performance from williams. :good

what was controversial about it. :huh

    williams dominated early.

margo slowly but surely started catching up.

had a couple of big-ish rds late on.

but aside from that williams outboxed him. :bbb

who says u have to hurt a man to beat him.

The only way to win in the eyes of Margo fans is to lose to him. That's the only way. You CAN'T beat Margo. It's impossible. If someone does it's a fluke or weak or bull****. It's ridiculous, Margo fans are easily the most bias fans I've seen on here. Not all, but some. He beat him cleanly in the first fight and even more importantly, put on a great round 12 in which people thought Paul was on his way out after round 11. If Margo beats Williams I'd give him tons of credit. But I can't say it's the same the other way around.
