Why does no one ever talk about Juan Manuel Marquez is a one dimensional fighter?

Saying Pacquiao’s career was carefully orchestrated has to be the biggest joke I’ve read on these forums.

And about half of those points are opinions. Margarito was apparently ranked no.1 contender by the WBC and the WBA also, probably the WBO too if I could find the data.

He came forward and clobbered guys when he had to. The Diaz and Katsidis fights, last part of the Bradley fight, many frames of the Pacquiao fights. Dude's not one dimensional. He can box inside and out going forward and backwards. He's a better technical boxer than Manny or Floyd, but he didn't have all of their physical gifts, especially the speed. He got robbed a bunch of times because he had a style judges didn't like and took for passivity or inactivity, but he should have beat Norwood 8-4, and the Bradley fight should have been a draw.

Pure boxers didn't befuddle him. His natural style was counter puncher. He just wasn't aggressive enough and willing to roll the dice like Manny was. He'd let a couple of rounds slip by waiting for his partner to come to him before taking the initiative and walking to them. He could do both but was more comfortable in the defensive roll. The Chris John fight was close, and John is a lot better than people realize. I think that fight should be a classic of high skill and style. Marquez problem was that he fouled himself into a loss, although I've gone back and forth with CST about how to score this and he might have deserved to win.

I don't see how anyone could call Marquez one-dimensional. He could do everything even if he had preferences.

This is the stupidest argument ever.
Yes he didn't know that he could BUT HE INTENDED TO IF HE KNEW HE COULD.
That's the very description of ROBBING SOMEBODY OF A WIN.
    Clements' official statement was:
Also you can't go on arguing the whole "influence" thing because firstly, Marquez was both the champion and the bigger name at the time, and secondly, we are talking paper records here. You can't always point to Pacquiao's losses to Horn and Bradley whilst spouting this nonsense about judges being influenced to score for him. Pacquiao has been the victim of being scored against by paid judges if anything.

TLDR: you're as big a hater as they come.

So stupid that I'm right, and the score stands, ok bud. You tell me why the decision was not overturned then.

And NO, JMM was not the bigger name, stop with that nonsense. JMM was virtually unknown. Pacquiao was the new rising star. Its the reason why Arum rejected the rematch and opted to give the fight to his other star Erik Morales.

Bro, I was following boxing back then, don't try to re-write history to me.

Great fighter but tremendously overrated on this board due to beating Pac. He did nothing inbetween Pac fights. Took no risks except the Mayweather money fight.

Through his rise up in weight chasing the money fight in Pacquiao, from 126 lbs to 140 lbs, who do you think Marquez should have fought that he avoided?

WTAF. You have the IQ of an ant.

Burt Clements: I've made a mistake, should've made it 10-6. I feel bad for not giving it to the right fighter.
Every other publication, Boxrec, Wikipedia, etc: JMM kept his title due to an error in scoring.
Every other person in the world: JMM was gifted a draw due to a stupid error.
You: JMM won fair and square.

WTAF. It's no use. You're an idiot. Please stay away from jobs that require you to think logically. If you even have one.

Chris John never got enough credit for that win, completely outboxed Marquez on the backfoot. He just wasnt exciting enough for a bigger audience

You don't struggle against shot Barrera and be #1.

His resume is scrutinized so little here. Tinman is on point with absolutely everything he's posted. People just cover their ears when it comes to JMM because, as tinman says, he's basically a prop to mess with Pac fans, and a name to spew by hipsters to sound like the know something.

For example, Casamayor was shot when JMM beat him and the fight was even before the KO.

And Pac struggled against an over the hill Morales.
That didn't diminish his two succeeding victories over El Terible.
KTFO6 on the fighter of the decade is like Duran's win over SRL. Hard to top that one.
Remove that from JMM's resume and he's a clear #3, as I've said.

Yes and you can scrutinize any fighters resume. But for a guy many regard as an ATG there is little to no scrutiny of Marquezs resume. Almost none.

Hell, most people here who talk about him have never seen any of his fights besides the Pacquiao and Mayweather one and maybe the Barrera fight.
