Oscar needs to, cause he has almost no fighters left. Al and Schaeffer ate the company up from the inside like parasites.
What does this have to do with what I said? We're talking about why Oscar wants to work with Arum. I gave you a reason. Arum has two cash cows and a good fighter with 3 PPVs that fight in a division that GBP has prospects in. Why would Oscar (or Haymon for that matter) not want to give those prospects the opportunity to fight those guys?
Arum cares about his pocket book and control. The best match-ups are made whenever they coincide with those interests and are irrelevant otherwise, just like every other promoter. BTW, his illustrious recent history with "big fights" includes declaring there was no money in the best selling PPV ever, breaking up the first Pacquiao-Mayweather negotiation, pooh poohing the very idea of Pacquiao-Mosley until the fight was significantly smaller, making demands that made Donaire-Mares an impossibility, and marinating the cake too long on Gamboa-Lopez.
exactly theres some idea that bob and oscar working together will lead to them both making fights for the fans lol......remember the video of todd duboef last week telling us that the plan isnt always to make the fights for the fans?....these people actually believe this "cold war being over" is going to lead to the absolute liberation of the fans....and were goin to be seeing dream matchup after dream matchup...and that every fight we want to see is going to be made and the fan is taking the sport back.....its pure fantasy....every fight we can conjure up as the best/juiciest will not happen unfortunately that is the stance on alot of internet boxing fans "this fight would be awesome....such a great style matchup....it makes too much sense...i demand to see it...if it doesnt get made im mad because these guys are supposed to care about us fans"
while cotto was a good fight to be made for pac....it was made purely with money in mind..... arum had talked margarito up as a beast that floyd was scared of....he "beat" cotto......then was declawed and beaten down by shane mosley.....naturally that would have been the right fight to make at the time.....for the fans....instead cotto was made because of pockets and control like you said..... arum dont give a **** about ****
It's not so much that he wants to work with Arum he wants to work with HBO and Showtime like he always did. Oscar is a boxer not a banker, and was always willing to take the best fights no matter if he'd win or lose, he wasn't scared and he wants to give the fans what they want to see. Haymon are Schaefer don't give a **** about pleasing the fans they want to build an empire of paper champions who are coddled and protected from the real threats, yet they market them as if they are the best in the game, creating a mirage trying to fool all of the casuals. The fans of GB fighters have become useful idiots, subconciously aware that their guys aren't the best, yet making themselves believe they are. They dont want to see Floyd Pac because they are deeply afraid of the possible truth that Pacquiao will win destroying in many cases their main reason for being a boxing fan, Mayweather. They have doubt their guys are the best so they prefer to go along with the program. Canelo,Thurman,Porter,Broner,Khan,Wilder,Garcia,Quillen,Santa Cruz,Russell,Mares are all hypejobs waiting to be exposed, not just by Top Rank guys but by all of the other fighters working for promotions who do business with HBO and not Showtime. They want to destroy HBO and build up Showtime because Richard is best buddies with Espinoza of Showtime. They want a monopoly not a competition, so they don't want to work with others in fear of losing and having potetial cash cows be exposed. But as with all monopolies they implode from within, due to lack of competition and creativity and daring to truely prove yourself to be the best. The question should be what fan doesn't want Oscar to work with Bob???
