Why does Povetkon continue to rate so high?

Well he looked pretty good against Chagaev and Boswell. So with Haye and Adamek conclusively beaten by K2, it seemed safe to put Povetkin in 3rd again. After all, he has wins over Chambers and Byrd. People in the game seem to respect him.

But the fight with Huck exposed the hypetrain. Resume wise Povetkin is definitely #3, h2h definitely not.

That said I'm not convinced Huck deserved to beat Povetkin because there seem to be suspicions of foul play. There's still a good chance that Povetkin in optimal condition would defeat Haye, Adamek, or Pulev.

Povetkin was a great am and his early pro career was decent, but it looks like he's on the downslide...

I mean, against Huck, he looked unhealthy, against Boswell, he only looked good because Boz was huffing and puffing after 3 rounds, he just doesn't look like his old self from the Chambers and Byrd fights

Because he beat several highly ranked fighters. You know, the usual way really.

I think how a fighter performs should be factored in to his current rating. This isn't like an all time list. Three years ago Povetkin deserved his number three ranking. He's clearly on the slide and I think his rank should be too. Just my opinion of course.

Povetkin was almost in a standing KO in the end of the Huck bout and he was in an actual standing KO 10 minutes after the fight ended. Huck kicked his ass big time, it should have been draw at worst.

Isn't the point of your thread to prove Povetkin is "rated too high"?

Povetkin would have been a top 10 HW in the 80s, 90s and 2000s respectively.

I think he would have been a titleholder.

Because he is that much more accomplished than every other HW not named Wladimir or Kubrat.

Arguably yes. But that doesn't change that at the time I made this thread he had looked horrible against Huck and avoiding Wlad. Since than he hasn't done a whole lot. He's a good fighter but I still think he's on the slide and doesn't deserve such a high rating. Mind you this is just MY opinion.
