Why does Pulev always look 2" shorter than fighters he is 'taller' than?

He was prepared to fight Tyson Fury and wants and is waiting for Wlad.

Pulev avoiding hard fights makes no sense to me.

Wlad will have size and reach advantage. So did Dimitrenko and Ustinov. It will not be decided by size. Skill will play a big part, but I believe in this case also heart and stamina will come into play a lot. While Wlad is the clear favorite, Pulev has the potential to give him him biggest challenge in quite a few years. Unlike quite a few of the challengers, Pulev actually believes he can win and will be gunning for Wlad, if Klichko finally agrees to fight him. Seems to be quite a big "IF".

To be fair Pulev fights big guys as he seems to be serious about getting ready for Klitschko, unlike say Adamek or Povetkin.

Pulev may not be 6'4 1/2 but he's at least 6'3 1/2. The important thing is he's pretty bulky (weights in at 245-255) so he won't be easy for Klitschko to push around. He's also at least as fast as Klitschko footwork-wise.

That said, Klitschko physically bullied Thompson in the 2nd fight but Pulev wasn't able to do that. On the other hand, by the time Klitschko fights Pulev, he probably won't be the same fighter he was in the 2nd fight with Thompson (he still had Steward in the corner, and he was arguably still in his prime).

Agreed. Unless Klitschko agrees to fight Pulev pretty much immediately after his next fight, then it may not happen. Klitschko's team will argue that the fans want him to take on the Fury-Chisora winner, and after that they'll target the WBC belt. Both fights are a good deal less risky than Pulev.
