I'll look out for it. It is interesting that Wlad barely made Stewarts top 10. And that he has Louis, Ali, and Foreman above Lewis. I find it interesting, because he trained Lewis and Wlad, and it would totally be acceptable for him to put them in his top 5. But perhaps it could also be the timing of the interview...
In those days yes...today? more flurries, you have to understand few threw crisp combos then because they weren't really taught . who said anything about counter punching? you are trying again to flip the subject which is I said he refined combination punching with feints. the very same vid you showed in the link was combo punching THEN.
not to quibble but Hayes height is exaggerated. Most fighters listed at 6'3" are barely over 6'. Same as every fighter genuinely above 6'2" gets rounded up to 6'5". All of sudden 6'7" has become a popular stat. It led me to wonder what height those guys really are. Haye is a six footer. Ali was a size bigger.
Steward also said Wlad is the best of all time, better than Lewis. He loves Joe Louis as he was based in Detriot and for social reasons.
The second and third punch are unmistakably a combination of two punches. The other ones you can argue, but the 2nd and 3rd punches are clearly stringed together.
Can't find anything online about Manny saying Wlad is the best of all time. Any source, or idea of where it came from? He mentioned the sentimental aspect of Joe Louis. But then says that as fighters, Ali and him were 1 and 2: https://streamable.com/onuj
So then Dempsey didn't refine combination punching. I brought up counter punching to define his style. Counter punchers don't typically punch in combinations. Btw how do you know what was taught in those days? Do you have a book about it or a time machine perhaps?
?
Im not so sure about this. I believe he rated Lewis over Wlad but before he passed did say Wlad would win. In any case old time trainers or new time rarly go against the grain of what was set before them. I highly doubt he really thinks Louis would beat Lewis, it would be the same reason he didn't include Marciano. these guys know if you look at what theyt say they contradict themselves ,but they feel obliged to state popular belief anyway.
So Manny gives dishonest rankings, because he is scared to go against tradition? I think he has more courage than that. He wasn't afraid to dismiss Rocky.
