I like always liked and respected this guy as a fighter. He is nothing but class and doesn't cherry pick anyone. He fights for THE RIGHT reasons and thats why I am a fan.

He is a classy guy, but he was also touted as this diamond in the rough who needed a bit of honing to become something extrordinary. Well, we kept hearing that over and over again, and he kept comming with the same rough style, when he showed a different style, he turned Emanual Stewards tall man style into a version of the John Ruiz jab and grab when he fought Ouma.

I didn't want to see Taylor turn into a clumsy, small version of Lennox Lewis. Heavies fight slow and plodding, but anything around middle weight should be action packed. I wanted to see Taylor turn into something inbetween Tommy Hearns and Julian Jackson. He has big clubbing, thudding power, but its like he never learned how to punch crisply. I see HUGE raw power that still hasn't been tuned and refined.

All the respect to the guy for having a huge heart, and courage that most boxers only could wish for. But those aspects need to go along with refined boxing ability.

Not an excellent fighter imo. Excellent athlete with the potential to be a world beater, enough raw talent to compete with the likes of Bernard Hopkins and Kelly Pavlik. But has never taken his boxing skills to the next level for whatever reasons imo.

The controversial way in which he won and kept the titles against Bernard really soured people on Taylor. Many fans feel he never really earned the title and instead got the decisions due to the fact that he was HBO's sweetheart. Add in more controversial and bad performances against the likes of Wright, Spinks, and Ouma and you've got the makings of a very dislikeable '"champion".

I myself threw a lot of **** towards the guy right up until Pavlik knocked him out and dethroned him, but I do hold a certain level respect for the guy's toughness. He showed great heart by earning a draw against Winky despite taking a thrashing every time he backed up against the ropes. I also respect the way he came back immediately after his first knockout loss and put on that great performance versus pavlik in the rematch. It takes a lot of guts to fight that well after a KO loss against the same man who had just knocked you the **** out. I'll never be a fan, but I have to give the guy his props.

He's a self-proclaimed money-grabbing knob, who was hyped up out of all proportion and given gift decisions over truly great fighters.

I was immensely satisfied when Kelly smashed him to bits.

    Kelly Pavlik = boxer
    Jermain Taylor = athlete

Guys like Pavlik live and love the sport, while a guy like Taylor probably thinks Marcel Cerdan is a new kind of French shampoo.

Apologies for the agressive hatred, but I still haven't gotten over some of the things he said following the Spinks debacle.

    A) HBO tried to jam him down everybody's throat.

    B) His style is crude and aesthetically displeasing.

    C) His wife is bangin and everybody is a hater.

Sorry but IMO both Hopkins fights both Pavlik fights and the Winky fight were great fights IMO but hey maybe you just dont know what good fight is if it came out and smacked you in the mouth.
Controversial Decisions WTF???? Come on now you dont really beleive that Hopkins beat Taylor do you? and I know you dont think Winky did either that fight was scored correctly it was a Draw clear winners and losers in each round no way to say there was a winner or loser in the end.
