Why does this forum think old time heavies sucked?

Because he was born too early? Or do you have any arguments to back it up?

Because he's nowhere near as good as them.

Explain it though, saying "he's not good enough" is not argument by itself.

    How can I explain it ?! o_O:eek:
From the available footage of him, he's nowhere near as skilled. I don't know how else to put it.

See this is exactly what I'm talking about.

In 20/30 years time you'll be arguing against some modenrist who is saying Mayweather would get beaten to a pulp by whoever the current WW champ of the day is.

The answer is because he hasn't watched footage of Gans in detail.

And it might be true. That doesn't take away Mayweather's greatness though, as it also doesn't take away Gans's.
As I've said countless times, I don't deny Gans's or other old timers greatness, but that doesn't mean they'd do that well H2H

That right there is your problem in a nutshell

    "they"

Fights should be evaluated on a case by case basis based around styles.

You'll struggle to find many ATG fighters who look "worse" than Carl Froch, yet he broke the P4P top ten and was the number 1 fighter in his division.

Mayweather would be too antiquated and Tyson Fury will be "too small" for the 7'5 365 pound super super heavies of that era

You still have no argument unless you believe that the guy who looks better on film always wins, which I assume you know is not always the case

But that's not true... Gans is extremely skilled based on available footage.

I'm sure all the "size matters" brigade are gonna put all their money on Jarrell Miller in his next title shot.

We discussed Gans awhile back on this forum. I watched video and was not impressed with Gans, from memory his balance, footwork, his chin stuck up in the air, etc. wasn't good. If Gans was born in 1995 and trained like a modern fighter he might be excellent, I don't know. As he was, he lacks fundamentals...The fight below looks like something from a Toughman or Rough N Rowdy contest. It looks like two willing but unskilled fighters throwing wide arm punches with little defense. Was there a jab in the entire video?

If watching this type "boxing" excites a person or if someone considers this to be highly skilled boxing, that person doesn't need to spend money to watch top fights, he should just find out if there is a Toughman or Rough N Rowdy contest nearby.

I think Hearns vs Leonard 1 was like a Rough n Rowdy contest
