I mean, being a boxing fan, it's much more fun seeing someone's record having a high KO ratio. It's like a free advertisement that you will see a knockout when he fights. In UFC however, Buffer just reads out the win-loss record. Sure we are used to that, but I remember when I saw Strikeforce (I think) they also showed (I'm not sure if it was also read aloud) the KO's and Subs. I think for the most part, having a plain win-loss announcement is quite unfair for the fighter as fans who are new have generally no idea what to expect. A guy who has a 15-3 record would sound like average when you heard of the record not knowing the guy probably has all wins by subs. At least you'll know what his specialty or talent is. Wouldn't it be nice if UFC at least showed us those details during live broadcasts?
To be totally honest, i think you have overthought a very minor matter. If we want to know their KO ratio, We can find it out within seconds. And casual Fans dont really care for KO ratios. They just want to see a KO. Not to mention casual fans will rely on the commentary more, and the comentators will give you all the information you need to know.
They give a brief description of the fighters entering the cage, and the commentators tell you either way during the walkout. All fights on the main card are like this. We also here Buffer say "This man is a Vale Tudo, Kickboxer, JJ fighter", I believe I've heard it all. Those new to the sport and casual fans know damn well to expect too.... Someone getting brutalized, punched out, or tapped out. I can see from a fighter's viewpoint, but most fans know these competitors pretty well :good I don't think their is as many casual fans as some here think, about 90% of viewers are diehard, and everyone involved knows a thing or two about who they will be watching beforehand. With all the commercials and advertisement, only if your dragged to the bar or your buddies house will you not know about who is fighting.
