I wasn't aware at all that this was happening. I read an article summarizing what he said when he was on Lampley's show but he didn't give a clear answer as to why he wanted the separation. Has he said clearly what the reason is?

Nope, his lips probably sealed due to ongoing litigation. In the past he has signaled that Goosen wont even let Ward or his manager in on the meeting or negotiations with the networks and other camps.

Also, Ward takes a lot of flack for always fighting at home. His relative inactivity, desire to reach PPV status (which cant be done fighting solely in Cali, and infrequently) by fighting more often and in other markets seem likely to play into it. Ward probably has one idea of how/where/when he wants to fight and advance his career, and Goosen another. But thats just speculation based on the obvious + Ward being a pretty intelligent guy.

He signed a 7 year contract with goosen, then when that expired he claims he was forced to sign a 4year extension. He claims that contravenes california law!

THAT IS A 7YEAR CONTRACT FROM 2004 TO CLARIFY. This is why boxers need proper representation before they sign anything! Think mike trainer or al haymon, these guys are arums masters! He told ko magazine back in the 80s, trainer was the toughest negotiator he ever met, hence why he hates haymon and schaefer. bUT THE HATERS WILL NEVER SEE THIS?
