I read posts on here every day, saying Mayweather should fight Martinez,GGG,Ward,or some other 160lb+ fighter.
Why is it that people think he should fight so far above his weight.
The fact is that when Floyd is at peak shape and fully hydrated he might weigh 151lbs. Yet so many people claim he should be fighting guys who weigh 170 or more on fight night. Just throw the scales away and let fighters face anyone they want. Do away with all the weight classes. Just make 2 classes: BIG and LITTLE:patsch

Why does this 2x SWW champ need every excuse in the book when challenged by real threats at SWW?

    :thumbsup

In all honesty of course people want to see him lose, but the man brings it on himself when he compares himself with the likes of the Fab 4, and talks about how he's the best fighter ever. He talks trash for Pac making Cotto drop a couple of pounds, Floyd fights Cotto at 154 while discrediting Pac's victory because of catchweight, and then Floyd makes Canelo meet at catchweight :rofl:rofl:rofl
He claims he was going to fight the winner of Martinez/Williams 2 until that nuclear left hand landed and suddenly Floyd kept Martinez's name out of his mouth. Then when mentioning Pac he was all over the place.. I'll beat that midget, but first I gotta retire..... Nobody is afraid of you, but my health comes first.
People want to see him lose, but the man brings it on himself. You talk a big game and people expect to see a big game.

Era of Pacquiao? Why? He is younger than Floyd, but already showing signs of falling off. All the talk about prime fighters that floyd ducked (Cotto,Mosley, Oscar ). Yet Floyd is older now than any of them were when they supposedly fell out of their prime. But floyd is still on top, Taking on guys younger than him often. All the guys he will possibly face in the next few years are close to their primes now while he is got to be past his. Matthysse, Garcia, Khan, Alexander, Bradley,Alvarez.
But its not good enough that he take on all these younger guys in their prime, he is supposed to keep going up in weight. You knock him for missing other guys in their prime but give him no credit for being past his and still fighting guys who are still in their primes?

People want to see the best fight the best and test themselves. If Floyd had a history of facing the best fighters, people would still want to still him fight GGG, etc. But at least no one would really have a serious issue with him "ducking" said fighter if he had that history like some other ATGs. Floyd doesn't have that history though, is a massive hypocrite, has a generally repellant persona, and talks like he's the greatest ever based on his zero without facing a single fighter that was roughly considered on his level.

Fighting 5 times since 2007 will put less miles on that body. Nobody is saying he should move up to MW anyway, both GGG and Sergio said they'd drop down to 54 (or even lower for Sergio). But he doesn't even have to do that unless he wants serious legacy points. What is a must though is unifying at full 154. This CW unification is a stain on his rep, not to mention his credibility.

    ^This

Nothing else needs to be said. It's just hater speak. The haters in this forum would show Serial Rapists more love than than do Floyd. It's just their way. They're obsessed. That obsession is the reason why Floyd makes 30 million dollar paychecks. Marketing genius.:good

Well, Duran fought one of the greatest MW there ever was. Even though it was far above his waters.

Why not expect the same from today's fighters?

im trying to find weigh in and fight night weights for hagler duran but cant.. anyone help me out here?.

im going to take a guess and say duran was outweighed by close to 20 lbs in that fight just like mayweather likely will against canelo

remember when you talk about floyds weight class you must remember he barely cuts weight or dehydrate down like 95% of fighters in the sport, that coupled with always staying active and fit and his defensive style has kept him ontop of the fight game what ? 16 years?

EDIT : found the fight night weights http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1121476/index.html
