I really wouldn't be surprised if it's something to do with Wilder seeing Tyson as a "black traitor/Uncle Tom" kind of thing (not my views whatsoever obviously - far from it). But Wilder has a history of making everything about race, made numerous comments when fighting Fury about it being a "black man vs a white man" kinda thing. So he probably finds the idea that Tyson supported Fury over him outrageous... as well as the fact Tyson has admitted voting for Trump twice, etc. Joshua seems to share similar opinions when it comes to that kinda topic too... in fact, when you think about it, both of them (Wilder and Joshua) are actually, very weird people with an exaggerated sense of self-importance, who like to sound way more deep and intelligent than they actually are (both have spoke about going on weird-sounding spiritual journeys after losing fights etc). But I will give Joshua some respect for the fact he's never made 100 ridiculous excuses for any of his losses (even if he did show himself up with that 5-minute rant with the mic, haha).

so from what you write and even from the statistics you cite, it follows that almost every Tyson opponent was near his prime or at his peak. Tyrell Biggs, 27, was most appreciated before Tyson, Larry Merchant even thought he could beat him, Tony Tucker too - 34 wins without a defeat before Tyson and 27 years old. Berbick had just achieved success in his life, he had a series of 9 good victories and a success in his life with P. Thomas. Smith, a success in his life, Spinks 32 and undefeated, 5th fight in a row in HW even though haters still call him LHW. The only boxer who was clearly past prime in the fight for the title was probably Bruno in 1996, and Larry Holmes in 1988... But these were very dominant victories. Did Holyfield dominate Holmes or Foreman so much? was he himself dominated by Lewis as Holmes was? You write that Holmes was inactive for two years. Leonard fought Hagler too, even longer, and was of a lower weight than Spinks. Vitali gave one of the best fights in his career with Peter at the age of 37 and coming back after 4 years. Holmes was very long-lived, do you think that with Willimas or Spinks he was also inactive and old? After his fight with Berbick, he called Trevor the strongest fighter he had ever fought, which does not stop Tyson's haters from calling Berbick a can of tomato juice. Tyson on Berbick, Williams, Spinks needed a total of 10 minutes, which does not stop Tyson's haters from claiming that an active Holmes would definitely knock out Tyson. Where's the logic here?
