That doesn't explain away the popularity of fighters like DLH, Pac and Hatton.
What you've written there isn't really relevant to the question asked in the op anyway, the guy wanted to know 'why he isn't respected' and I think we can assume he means by boxing fans, not by people who aren't drawn in to watch boxing. The fact is, the prevalent view of Klitschko is that he's very vulnerable and is only champion because the division is so poor. It is poor, you can twist it whichever way you like, I've read enough of your posts on Klitschko threads to know that you'll make a case for a deep heavyweight division and I believe you do so because it would reflect well on the Klitschko's if it were true. I'm not saying Wlad is a poor fighter, I watch his fights whenever they're on television and with a few exeptions they're quite dull fights because he's streets ahead of the guys he's fighting and yet takes the "a win is a win" approach and plays it safe. I've got no problem with a fighter playing it safe and using his boxing skill but when the only guy in the division who could match him never will because they're family, there isn't much chance of seeing an interesting fight. It's quite starkly apparent at the moment with the whole Haye thing. Nobody outside of Europe knows anything about him or the guys he's beaten or at least didn't before he confronted Wlad at the O2. Nobody can think of a better or more interesting opponent, maybe Povetkin but that's still only one.
I stand by my original post, Wlad has LarryHolmesitis. He and the whole division are standing in the shadow cast by the 1990's just as Holmes stood in the shadow of Ali and the 1970's.

I would not go by that poll. 1/4 of this forum is British, and Haye is their hope. Another 20% simply hates Wlad. What you are seeing in this poll is people picking with their hearts.

Excellent post. :good I've been watching boxing since I was a little kid, 35 years ago, and it's amazing the selective memory that some of these posters have.

Lennox Lewis was hated by all of my "Tyson friends" that is until he retired & they looked at his legacy as a whole.

if he could speak english and sell his talent i think people would buy him. he is good in the shallowest era in HW boxing. we'll see, if he stays champ for the next 5 years and make 20 defenses, hey he must be considered HW top 20 ATG

The most shallow era of HW boxing? More ignorance, keep believing what others tell you, you'll make a great follower some day.
If he stayed Champion for 5 more years and he made 20 more successful defenses he'd be remembered as one of the best if not the best. He already has reigned for 3 years & 6 defenses so that would mean he ruled for 8 years & 26 defenses. How many other Heavyweights have done that? Nice way to set the bar so high that it's unachievable.
